IF you had to chose between the two which would you pick?

I can't stand either one but each one has a few special editions that are cool even though they are not MoPars but I am not talking about those. Just the run of the mill SS vs. the every day GT. Which would it be? Old not this new school crap.

Well, I had 5 1st gen Mustains, 2 being Fastbacks...a 65 and a 66. Actually owned them at the same time lol. I like the Fastbacks the best but my favorite was the 66 FB, 289, 4 speed with 600 Holley DP, Torker intake and headers. With a lousy 2.80 gear, it ran a 15 flat and got 21 on the highway running 70.

I had a 68 GT 302 4 spd car and used it as a daily commuter for 95K miles and 9 yrs. It treated me well and like Cranky, I got nearly 20 mpg on the hwy. My only issue was those crappy upper ball joints and Bendix power steering. I have a soft spot for Mustangs and pretty much convinced you can't blow up a 289 or 302. I'd go with the Mustang and not give it another thought.

the best part is , I don't have to chose either one , and I would never put myself in a position to have to

Shoot...a 65-66 289 4V Mudstain ran pretty good. I always wondered how a 318 4barrel 67 Dart would run run against on but Mom never built one. Why not! Because of the 273 or the teen was meant to be a mom and pop motor? If it was a mom and pop motor, then why put it into a 67 hard top Dart? And the hi-po 289 gave the hi-po 273 fits iirc.

well i have no choice but to say camaro because i have been a camaro guy my whole life my very first car was an 84 z28 camaro that i got when i was 16 and still have today and is at this very moment getting ready to be restored and modified as my next project......cant wait

Yeah, an equivalent of an A code 289 for the 318 would have been pretty cool, or I guess you can just all that The 273 power pack. The 271 HP 289 was quite a bit hotter than the 273. In 68 we got the 340 and that was strictly business.

My J code (hi-po) 302 was nothing at all but it didn't seem to care being put into first gear at 50 MPH on the freeway. I had a hot rodded 60's El Camino that was picking a fight with me so I had to show him the back end of a 68 Mustang.

We have both in our collection. A 68 Mustang GT/CS California Special, and a 69 Camaro RS/SS. So I guess it's a moot point. :p

I'll go with the Camaro, You can pick up Chevy parts in any backyard. I'm not a Ford guy. I think because of the attitude most Ford people have.
And besides all that, There are Mustangs and Camaro's everywhere. Up and down every street, at every car show and gathering, they're not special maybe in another 40 years when their numbers thin out they will be.
I'll stick with my Mopar.

I had both as well...my 1st car was a 67 Camaro RS in HS 1987...and then I had a 66 Mustang FB Shelby Hertz clone...I would have to say I prefer the body style of the 67-69 Camaros over the 64-66 Mustangs...
But am quite glad to have a mopar that no one else has at any cruise nights I go to.

69 SSRS 396 375hp 4 speed with the console gauges and make it in silver or a 1970 RS LT-1 with a 4 speed and make it in red or silver. Never was a big fan of the old mustang. It had a terrible front suspension that squeaked and didn't handle all the well when compared to the GM cars.

Back in the day Mustang owners used to remove the Braces under the hood . The front end would sag inward , causing Neg Camber.
I can't tell you how many Mustangs, I had to spread to get them back in specs. It was a regular thing.

and the sh***y Control arm bushings, Metal on metal. The power steering that hung down with hoses. upper ball joints.
Just Junk.
