The PO had a set of these wheels in the trunk of the 66 Coronet 440 that I bought recently. Did these come on the 66 Coronet? Where would I find center caps?

And that's a later model center cap that came out in 72. What size is the wheel? Keep in mind that the wheel center is the same size on both 14's and 15" wheels so if the wheel ring is bent but the center is good, you can cut the center separate them and weld on a new 15" ring. I've made a few 15x8 rallye wheels over the years before anyone was selling them on the reproduction market....and anything bigger than 15x7 wasn't offered by the factory.

If you want to stay original the 5 spoke road wheels with black accents would be a nice option for you and there is a set or two for sale in the ads area now. Or you can buy different sizes of the Rallye or Road / Magnum 500 style wheels from the aftermarket.

What did the original wheel look like? Still early in the build, but I like to get everything together before hand.

gregs70, thanks for the source on the center caps, I would not have thought to look at Summit for something like that.

From what I remember back then, the 66 model year didn't offer optional styled wheels. I may be wrong but I don't recall seeing any 66 Dodge or Plymouth cars on the lots with anything but hubcaps. Now those varied from basic small 'poverty caps' to some nice looking full wheel covers.

I believe you're spot on. Anyway, stock wheels were quickly swapped for custom wheels then.

Only the guys that had some money did the wheel swap back during that time period. Many many drag racers were still using stock type wheels at the track...even many of the faster guys did the same.

If you decide to get rid of these :icon_winkle:, let me know. I need some for my 70 RR.
