my 72 has hood pins but still has the latch. Is there a reason for having both?

That's how all of them were, except I believe for Daytonas, Superbirds, A12 Cars and AAR and T/A's

My 72 Roadrunner is that way. I wish the pins were not there.

I have a 71 hood on my 73. It came with hood pins and the release for the latch as well.
Hood pins are for looks mostly. I wouldn't trust them anyway.

I don't like them either for security/theft reasons. But the Nascar guys seem to trust them @ 200mph.

Does someone make more soild ones so you can get rid of the regular latch?

Ideally id like to get rid of the hinges too and just have 4 pins i guess

OEM pieces are better quality than aftermarket kits if you can find them.

Mine is like that too, but the previous owner added the pins. Thought about welding the holes shut but will be reinstalling the hardware after I paint just kuz.

This video has some reasons why one may want both in some setups: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJJxVcPIc7I

There's really no good reason to run without a latch, even with hood pins, unless you're drag racing and need to strip every ounce of weight you can off the car.

The set I got for my RR from Dales Cuda shop are just like the OEM's, and reasonable price, at least they were when I got them 3 years ago. Also Made in the USA.
