looking for a little help, I have a 1968 Sport Satellite that had drum brakes all around. I converted the front to non power disc. the instillation went very well. my concern is that I can't get the brakes to lock. not at slow or high speeds. I think they should, right?

I had the same set-up (factory) on a `70 Duster 340. Never had the front brakes lock up, but did have the rear drums lock up several times during 'panic stops'. Any time tires squeal because they are NOT turning scares me more.

two questions
1)did you change to drum disc master?(discs require more fluid)
2)what did you do about prop valve?(original drum systems used a diverter block, not a prop valve)

Disc brakes need a whole lot of pressure to work.
I dont think your going to get an easier brake pedal w/o a power booster.Try this guy Wayne as he will answer any of your questions or might have a answer already in one of his videos.

I think I got it figured out, thanks for the help. I did replace the master cylinder because of the increased volume. I just had to fuss with the adjustable proportioning valve to get the right balance.

The best way that I ever used to set the adjustable valve was setting it on glare ice in an empty parking lot. If it will work right on glare ice, then wet roads should be OK also along with dry roads. It just took a while in Texas to have a good day with icy parking lots.
