Hello all, I have been browsing the forums for months in the background and have finally decided to join. I have always wanted a 69 charger since I was about 8 years old but where I live (Nova Scotia) there are few to find. So in March I decided to buy a 73 charger se that was about 6 hours from me in New Brunswick thinking it would be as close as I'd ever get to my 69. I worked on it from march until August replacing the firewall with one for a 73 challenger as well as a new front full floor and donor door hinge posts. In may I found an as on kijiji for a 69 charger the guy was asking $3200 came with a parts coronet and new floors from the firewall to the taillights and a soda blasted mint condition hood. I immediately got in touch with the guy and got some better pics from him, the car was a wreck by looking at the pics and I opted not to buy it. Fast forward two months to end of July beginning of August. I decide I email him again and see if he still has the car (ad long gone from kijiji) and to my surprise he says yes. I asked his best price again and surprisingly he says $2000 takes it. Well then I scramble to get resources together to go get the car. August 16th I make the 5.5 hour drive to Cape Breton trailer in tow behind my ram and my brother and father and best friend as support/loading helpers. The photos didn't do it justice, it was done, no floor reAr rails non existent, front rails rotten. Basically the only pieces left that are good is the roof structure (which needs lots of patches), the upper rad support and dash frame/window regulators and stainless trims, entire body is rotten to point it's lost shape and is sagging. So for some stupid reason I bought it for 2k thinking at the very least I had well over 2k in parts to sell which i do. So now I have commutes to restoring it. As I said I have all the new floors that came with it, I bought a 68 satellite to use firewall, upper and lower cowls, front inner fenders, lower rad support, door hinge posts, inner wheel tubs and shock crossmember. I have bought new full rear rails, rear spring perches and trunk support brace. I have new rockers ordered inner and outer, front rails and torsion crossmember. I have been watching some build threads such as sgtpauls and mopar4don. I have the 69 service manual and am hoping I can build a jig and basically build my car from scratch. Crazy I know! Anyway just wanted to introduce myself and tell the story of how I came to be here! Sorry for the long post!

welcome to FBBO keep us posted on your progress

Welcome pat. That is a very ambitious project indeed. Good luck. Any pics?

Thanks for the welcomes! I will try to post some pics later this evening just finished building a frame jig today now it's turkey time (thanksgiving here is canada eh!)

welcome, where are you located? I live in southern Ontario since 1999 but came from cape Breton had a lot of mopars from that area. where did you pick it up from? and yes it's really hard to find one that is not rusted in that area for sure.
must be the salt air. lol Bruce

I live in lunenburg, car came from Sydney forks young guy bought it few years ago from someone who used to build chargers in the area, apparently this guy had a general lee. It was originally red someone had patched the torsion crossmember and most of the floor and firewall with galviniZed tin. It's a absolute wreck.

Welcome to FBBO! Post some pictures of your Charger and start a thread when the surgery begins.

i will try and post some shortly, my computer is being a piece of junk and wont recognize my phone when i plug it in and that is what the pics are on. I am hoping within the next couple weeks to get started on the 69. I have a few things to button up on the 73 to get ready to sell then my garage is clear for the 69 to go in.

I lived about 30 minutes from there, well at least you have a option now of getting every piece you will need not like years ago when you had the junk yards or buy a parts car.be really nice when your done, so piece by piece and hour by hour it will come together. P.S my two boys live in chester basin that whole area is beautiful. thx Bruce

She's a project alright. I admire you for taking it on and reviving a car that should never have reached that condition. Good luck and welcome to the forum!
