Mopar Muscle Magazine Makes Me Laugh!

Hot rod aka Mopar Muscle has nothing of interest any more, it's a shame to. Personally I getting kind attached to Roland at Chrysler Power he and his articles are growing on my even went back to 1984 and read his first stuff.

Haha, i called it - hotrod recyled this build

Well, I gotta say, I f'n called this one. Engine masters did the same build and HOTROD recycled the article. Steve Dulcich, the writer, should be ashamed of himself.

Dyno results are exactly the same.

Look at the pictures of the rods, even the reflections on the journals and rod bolts are identical.

I guess it's "how to publish a magazine on a workingman's budget"... just copy the article !! I also just let my subscription lapse.

Didn't even use different pictures...

I get publishing deadlines and pressures, but this is an insult. Hell, it's like there are no shops building 440's anymore. Shameful.

Just to put you at ease, Randy Bolig isn't the editor any longer. :)

:iamwithstupid: yeah Johnny Hunkins is a good guy :headbang: ,
I had dealt with him a few times as a Moderator a tech guy & an editor of some sort,
there when Mopar Muscle Mag.'s old forum & blog was still going strong, despite Randy...

Unfortunately
It's just Hot Rod re-hash now, MMM, Popular HotRodding, Super Chevy, High Performance Pontiac,
especially Hot Rod {should be called the Power Tour, overly **** forum},
the whole Peterson group of publications & forums...

I haven't had much to do with any of them in a while now...

I doubt he had anything to do with that part thou...

I was never a big fan of MM myself. That being said lets see what we have. Very basic machine work, bore, deck. Pretty normal stuff. Hydraulic cam using stock valve train pieces, doesn't get much cheaper. Next there's always used headers, intakes and carbs, take your time and look, they're out there. Same with heads, plenty used, take your chances on condition. Eddy heads have been around for awhile. Quality is generally pretty decent. Some of the others??? Plenty of cams available. That being said comp probably grinds more than anybody. But not the only game in town If someone else knows how to make 500+hp cheaper, I'd like to see it. Soon there may be bolt on Mopar turbo kits available to make 500HP with a junkyard 360 at a budget price, stay tuned. Searching clasifieds last week I was able to find enough parts to build a 511" fully machined , assembled short block, 550 cam and used Eddy heads for $5500. A stock stroke 440 could be done for even less. Building a complete $500+ HP motor for less than 4K would be difficult, but not impossible. Trade labor , save your pennies, do some side work and it can happen. Living proof 9.12@147 for less than 15K (entire build). Yes I had a lot of given parts. And yes I've helped the people who helped me through the years. What comes around goes around.

They are Source Interlink Media now. They recently made a business decision and dropped Popular Hotrodding and High Performance Pontiac mags. Just stopped printing them. Left me hanging with a new three year subscription, they did offer to substitute with Motor Trend, that mag sucks. I told them to send my money back, out of 30 bucks I got 5.65 back. I'll never deal with them again.

Since many of us have street driven cars, 6,000 rpm isn't even in the scope of reality. For someone like me, the usable rpm range is 2,000 up to 4,000-4,500 rpm.

I have just about had enough of Mopar Muscle Magazine. My subscription is running out, so they send me a notice and want $45 for 12 issues. Seriously? Do they think that is a subscription price for a working man's budget? I think I'll send the notice back to them and write a note that they can wipe their a** with it. Heck, the flyer in the mag itself says $27 for 12 issues, but I guess if your a regular subscriber your supposed to pay more.....I don't get it? The print in the mag is way to small for my old eyes anyway

That's nuts. If you go online, they advertise TWO years for $45. I wouldn't renew at the rates they sent you either.

Same with me, new 3 year renewal on Popular Hotrodding (which I was liking more and more) and they just sent me an email and said they were replacing it with Hot Rod. So I emailed them and they were kind of jerks about it and finally offered me a refund if I sent another email to another site. By then I was P.O.ed and just decided to let it go and be done with them after this.
