Just wondering if anyone out there has tried putting 16 inch wheels on a 2nd generation Charger? 295/50R16 will get me an extra inch of height over the 295/50R15. I like the wider 50, but also want the taller height.

I think the problem with 16 inch wheels are the tire selection. If I remember correctly, there seem to be a lot of tire sizes in 15 and 17 inches, but fewer choices in the 16 inch.

Check tire availability before you buy...

X2 . . . . remember this when I was talking to the guys at the tire store . . . 16 is a very rare tire and limited selection . . . and I think some trucks have a 16 1/2 rim . . .

OH God, we had a fool at work that put a 16.5 tire on a 16 rim and aired it up. I heard an explosion and ran to see where the fire was. It had damaged the roof when the tire blew off the rim. It did not hurt anyone.

Only reason to use a 16 inch size is if you already had the rims. I bought a set in the mid-80's. 16x7 using a 225/50/16 tire to replace the 245/60/14 tires.
