My 1967 Belvedere Convertible Plans and Restoration (aka - Mad Scientist Build)

All covered as usual bud, Looks like your going to have some fun,,, I would love to have some room to move my stuff around and it's cool as heck for me to see another that can manage it, oh for the larger building i constantly am thinking about lol!!! Your welds sure look good to!

I really like the way your walkways turned out...................... I really like the fact that my wife hasn't seen them or you'd have to come up here and do some for me haha. Congrats on taking advantage of a nice day.

Ha ha ha 747 Mopar . . . well . . . I may be needing to get some paint on this thing in the near future, guess we can work out a trade ? ? ? ? ( smile )

More progress on multiple fronts . . .

Got some work done last night on the quarter panel but forgot pics to show the progress . . . so here's an update on that . . .

The top section as it attaches into the trunk . . . got a bunch of grinding done on it too . . .

sm_reattachment05.jpg

And the top side - just about all done and a lot of the grinding has been completed as well . . . still double checking for pin holes . .

sm_reattachment06.jpg

And this morning's work and progress with the hemi cradle . . . just finished the welding, got some grinding to do and slap some paint on it . . . and I hope it's done.

sm_hemicradle02.jpg

I think that will hold the hemi, with the transmission attached to it . . . OH YEAH ! !

Now that's some damn nice looking work Kahn! I couldn't see where you were referring to (welding it together) on the 2nd pic and literally had to go back a page to see where the splice was:headbang:! Computer guy my a$$, that's some nice work....pat yourself on the back because you deserve it haha. Nice cart too but I still say the motor would work better in the car???

I agree with 747, that's very nice work Kahn. Only one criticism mate. You cant have a cradle looking that good and leave it just plain. You need to weld a plate on it for the car stickers. :headbang:

Buddy, what i get the most kick out of and the one things that makes me feel good watching all this is the fact, no matter what it is, you ARE going to tackle it, You said at the first you aren't a welder, that didn't stop ya, and after all that's been done, you cant say that anymore!!! what ever needs fixed, you figure it out and tackle it, trust me when i say and ill bet im not alone, that its inspiration for everyone watching and doing these cars..
I started the day with bacon, eggs and a fresh pot of coffee, not for me but my one son in law hunts out back here and i promised him breakfast considering it was to be raining and keep it up today, hate it when that weather man is right sometimes! lol He showed up well before the sun made it brighter and we had a good talk, then i had some house work to get done and i didn't get to go to my little shop until 4 pm, quit at 8 and seen to it i could enjoy the work and updates so many are doing, i need to catch up but i think you have had a decent day reading your post, it all looks good bud!!!

Now we're talking Kahn. Like Ron says, there's nothing you won't tackle. I'm enjoying this thread heaps mate, keep it up.

Very busy day . . . but got a lot done . . .

Had a very busy day at the house trying to get stuff done . . . Started by getting more concrete done for the carport concrete pour ( hopefully soon )

sm_moreconcrete.jpg

Followed by more wood splitting - sorry Goon, I thought I was the only one that like splitting wood ? ? You're invited anytime ! ! !

sm_moresplitting.jpg

And then, I just go the Hemi resting in "comfortably" it's new cradle . . . oh yeah ! ! !

sm_hemiresting.jpg

Actually not too bad, but I goofed on the dimensions a bit . . . wanted to bolt the cradle to the engine while in the stand - made the cradle too big - DUH !

Oh, and I had to add one more tiny little detail . . . see below . . .

sm_neededdecal.jpg

I didn't have a decal - so I had to write it on the cradle . . . works for me ! ! !

Ok . . . had to see it on the engine . . . bell housing attached . . . ( SMILE) . . .

sm_bellhousingadded.jpg

Now I got to get this all figured out and see how well it dials in . . . Oh yeah ! ! !

nice progress there. I forgot to ask you, after our talk, where did you end up getting the steel? Did you find yourself a wholesaler in the area...I need to find one around here now too.

Real nice work Kahn! Top Notch!

Thanks Prop . . . I'm just trying to keep up close to your level of work ! ! ! That's a TALL order ! ! ! ( smile )

Yes KB67 - found a local distributor and all the metal for this cradle only cost me $40 . . . and $50 for the caster . . . so not too bad ! ! !

( AND - I can probably park my truck on the cradle and it'll hold it ! - can you say over-built ! ! YEAH ! ! )
