I am looking to get a low mileage 67 Chrysler 300 for the 440, since I found a crack in my block. What I need to know is will any other parts fit from that C body car on my B body 68 GTX? Like brakes, steering box, master cylinder and booster, stuff like that. Thanks

Not much. The master cyl and maybe the power booster can be swapped to the "B". I'm no fan of stripping a perfectly good "C"-body car to do the "engine donor" number.

Besides, where is the crack in your engine at??? Chances are, it can be fixed and you don't have to strip that 300!

Why not go up to Mound Round and see if one of those boys has a 440 and an automatic for your "B"??? Then, there is that yard the other side of Fallon that has (had?) a bunch of old Mopars, too.

Its cracked on the drivers side block from freeze plug to freeze plug. Its a 413 block, so I want to go back to a 440 anyway. Its a 4 door anyway, who wants a 4 door boat?? Do you know exactly where that salvage yard is outside Fallon?

Out East of town on 50, maybe three miles? It's been about ten years since I was at that particular yard, though.

Yeah.... not a good idea. Us c body guys don't take to kindly to those type of acts.....

4 door or not that 67 300 is a darn nice crosier on a long trip and will tow the 68 to boot.

Hi,

despite being a 68-70 B-body guy I am C-Body enthusiast, too.
Please do not consider parting out a low mileage C-body which is still roadworthy.
It has made it to stay alive for 47 years so there is no need to end it now just for parts.

There is a lot of people how like these cars no matter if as daily drivers or enthusiast cars. They offer great transportation and are a relativly cheap entree to the classic car hobby.

There are enough 440 engines already rapped out of C-bodys floating around.
Please use one of those

Carsten

1967 Chrysler 300s are getting harder to find buy the day and I would love to eventually have one. Nothing wrong with a 4 door hardtop!

Save the whales. I Like the C bodies too

Hope you find what you need at the salvage yard or locally and reconsider parting out the 300

Like Patrick said not much will cross over to your GTX

I agree with tallhair. Scour the salvage yards and craigslist for your 440 replacement engine. You should be able to get what you need there.

Lots of REAL Mopar guys do.
It's very disturbing to hear the "B" & "E" body tunnel vision "sheep" attitudes by folks addicted to the Chinese repop restoration methods.

I own a forward look car, a B body convertible and two C body's as well as a sweptside truck. My first preference to drive is either of the C body's. Put your butt in a good running C and you may also become a convert.

Great Mopars are not restricted to the intermediates. If you can't see that and show a little respect to your fellow Mopar guys then sell the GTX to a Mopar guy, go buy a Chevy and yank the engine out of a perfectly good Chev suburban

Well said Will.

OK, OK!! I see your point. After going to look at it in person (CL pics were blurry), I agree. It does need some work though. Has been a west coast car all its life. No rust! Needs a little interior work, tranny works but won't go in reverse. Has lots of paperwork like, owners manual, dealer sheet, some metal Chrysler Certicard, clean title and receipts. All original. Damn it!! Now I have another project and still looking for a 440.

Thank you !!

Will.
