I have the cluster out of my 69 Superbee. Trying to spiff it up a bit before I reinstall. Couple of questions..

Any tricks on removing the "haze" on the lens panel? Mine looks a bit cloudy

Any tricks on cleaning the markings on the gauges, primarily the speedometer. Its has some sun faded yellowish tint to it. Not bad but if there is a trick to make it look a bit more white before I put it all back together I would like to try. Not needing or wanting a full out resto job.

Im having issues with the fuel gauge on this car. While I have the dash out I would like to bench test the fuel gauge. What is the best way to do this? I know there is a voltage limiter, which I have purchased a new one, but is there an easy way to test this guy before I reinstall and just hoping the gauge works? I hate to replace the gauge if I dont have to as it will be all new white and black looking and make the rest of the cluster look that much older.

Appreciate any and all info guys,
thanks

Get yourself a bottle of Meguiars Plastx for the haze. Take your time, it's worth it.

Sounds like you are describing my car. No one I know has a B Body with a fuel gauge that works. When I do some dash work and wiring the lenses will be cleaned up with this. image.jpg I have used this with good results on plastic for clarity.

I picked up the Meguire stuff this morning. Lens turned out great. Thanks you for the suggestion. Went ahead and ordered a new fuel gauge as well. Hope the thing works. Dont see how it wont, I have installed a new tank, new sending unit, new ground strap, new fuel line, new instrument cluster voltage regulator and now it will have a new gauge. The wiring on my car looks really good. The circuit board on back of cluster appears fine as well.

Fingers crossed.

You can test the gauge with a couple D battery's. My car had a bad connection at a plug under the drivers kick panel.

You could try these for refinishing your gauges.

Careful the white letters on the gauge faces can smear with water.
