Hey Guys, a quick question. On a 1966 Satellite (or Belvedere), which motors got which badge on the fenders? I've identified four different ones, and besides the obvious 426 HEMI badge, I'm not sure what the 273, 318, 361, 383 got. I'm guessing that the 273 and 318 got the simple "V EIGHT" badge, the 361 got the "COMMANDO V8" badge and the 383 got the
"COMMANDO V8" badge, am I right?

My old '66 Satellite with a 383-2 had the plain "V-8" fender badge. I don't remember what my 318 Satellite or '66 Belvedere II convertible had, though. Had all three in the late '80s.

383-2 was not an available engine option for a 66 Satellite.

IIRC 273 and 318 got "V-8", 361 and 383 got Commando V8"
(273-4 also got Commando V8 but was not available in Satellite)

That's in addition to the hood ornament which was blank for a six, "V8" for a 273, and then had the actual displacement for anything larger.

It always amazes me the amount of extra cost tooling for emblems and trinkets on Plymouths, which were supposed to be the more economical car versus Dodge.

Not sure about that "Commando V8" you're talking about...

That might be a Barracuda specific emblem.

My '66 Satellite did indeed have a two-bbl carb as stock. I parted the crap out of that, and it definitely had a 2-bbl Carter on it.

Perhaps it was a 361?

What was the VIN?

The lo-po big block for 1966 was the 361-2 VIN code F.

The next available engine up the line was the 383-4 VIN code G.

The 383-2 didn't appear in B bodies until 1967, replacing the 361.

1967 VIN codes were G for the 383-2 and H for the 383-4.

(Note that there is an error in the 1966 Plymouth Factory Service Manual, regarding VIN codes)

There is a "Post your 66/67 383-4 cars" thread where you can see both the 383-4 fender badge and the 361 badge are the same.
The 361 car belongs to my brother and was found relatively unmolested with mostly original paint, albeit in terrible shape.

This is the other I mentioned. Is it not from a 1966? (Edit: Never mind, I see that this is from a 1965. Too bad, I like it much better than the '66's.)
