My next build!!

Sonny uses a winchester model 70 / 30-06....sure the Winchester Model 94 is used more?:thinker:

just ask'in

Go in the woods in PA during dear season. Winchester 94 and Marlin 1895 are the rifles of choice. I see a lot of guys with bolt action rifles down here in FL, but up north the lever still seems to be king.

I've built a bunch of AR's over the years. Great rifles that are like Barbies for men, and there's no end to what you can or can't build with that platform.

That's a fact! I've seen some that are so accessorized it's tough to tell what it is. :) I'm just a fan of the GI look, be it AR-15s, FALs, G3s, G1, M-1As, etc. My goal was to have one of every GI rifle going back to the '03 Springfield and a couple of foreign rifles, and that's plenty for me. Of course, you can never have too many Garands. :)

Oh I'm all about obsolete, as soon as I can get my smart phone too talk too my computer I will post up some pic's of my shooting junk, I still fire a 7.62mm M1 or a M1a in Service Rifle and Long Range Service Rifle. I could never and still can't justify a tax stamp for something too short or get into feeding anything select fire.

I don't mind the tax stamp. It's paying a fortune for rifles I used to get for peanuts that stops me. Kind of the same deal with old Mopars. :)

Sounds like most of you guys know a lot more about rifles then I do as I just started getting into this a few years ago. I have always liked shooting in the military but never owned anything myself. Being in good ole California I am limited on what I can do but I will have as much fun as possible. Looks like we might need a thread on this subject if that is allowed.

Looks like you took a couple of pot shots on your car in that avatar pic Jim.

Well for some reason I can get my phone too e-mail the second picture of my second rifle so this one is going too have too hold you guy's over. Its a Post War Springfield Armory M1 with a 3/66 7.62mm Navy barrel. Parts are all Post War SA and its been carefully assembled and fitted, with carefully hand loaded ammo it will hold MOA if I do my part.

Nice. I got one that was a Michigan Match Team rifle from DCM.....back when it was a lottery type deal. 52 Springfield.

Rifle number#2, your typical NM tuned M1A, yes all work minus the bedding by Me.

Ok the build is now complete. What do you all think? Next is research for a scope.

Scope; ACOG OR LEUPOLD. Of course, if you want really nice optics go with schmidt and bender.

Rifle looks great. The role you use it for, should determine the optic. The list of glass, is endless. The best I've found for CQB and medium range work, is the ELCAN DR. For long range, I drag out the bolt.
