Okay after draining my brain on what to do I have decided to keep the factory look of steelies with dog dish caps on 62 Polara. It currently has 14" steelies. I want to beef them up to 15".

Summit has black steelies at 15x8 for rears with backspacing of 4.5" and for the fronts 15x7 with BS of 4.0". Question: Will these work? Backspacing on front?

I am guessing my existing dog dish caps won't work on 15" wheels. See picture. Question: Where can I get dog dish caps to fit 15"? New or quality used that will fit.
Don't know if I would be good at modifying to make things work unless it's a no brainer.

Also, as per other members here the following tires should fit. 275/60/15 back and 225/70/15 front. Please confirm.

I spend way to much thinking about this stuff. But it is kind of fun digging in.

That was good info. Thanks.

Do you think those existing dog dish on the 14"s in the picture will fit new 15"s from Summit?

They look like a "inside insert" type of cap not a outside. I might be wrong. The thing is they have to be measured to know.

The wheels from Summit won't accept the origanal 14" caps but there are different ways of making them or other caps work, like mentioned in the thread.

Are you having fun yet? Lol

Not familiar with the 62s but I'm running 4" backspacing on my front 8" rims and 5" on my 10" rears on a 69 Charger.

i want deeper sleeliees send me the dudes numbers if unwould b a a bother

I'm having tires put on my 62 Belvedere tomorrow. Using wheel vintiques 15x8 in the rear and 15x6 in the front. I'll post some pics up tomorrow.

I would love to see them and also know how u achieved itn and what to look for to get them

I have some steel wheels 15" on here that came off my 62 for sale with caps.

I picked up a pair of WV 15x8 and Mopar 15x6.5 steelies from a member on FABO. For $225. vs $440 from WV. I had to get the 6.5s powdercoated but still ended up $75 cheaper. I suggest trowling the sister sites and CL.

I bought a set from summit...but I got a 70 plymouth satellite I did 4.5 front an 5 back spacing on mine. Fit perfect. Hope this helps.

OK, finally got around to taking some pics. 1962 Belvedere. Rear rims are WV "63" 8x15 with Cooper Cobra 255/60-15s and the front are 6x15 WV "63" rims with Cooper Cobra 215/70-15s

The rears have plenty of room on the wheel opening side but the side closest to the leafs are somewhat tight. The MP spring leafs are flared out at the ends so I ground the closest edge off for some breathing room. I like the fit and the look. Just got some later model dog dish caps in to try out.

What are your back spaces front and rear?

What kind of prep work do I need to do with the Wheel Vintiques Steels (63) if I am going to paint them?

Primer? Powercoat?

Thanks.

I bought Specialty Wheels for my Dart. A little cheaper than Vintiques. 15x10 rear. 15x6 front. Original dog dish caps fit without issues.
