Buying out of state car, anyone that can help?

Ok so I've found a coronet that I want but it's 12 hours away. I was thinking about having an inspection done and using an escrow service to pay but the buyer wants cash only.without going there myself, how can I do this? Is there a broker or someone who I can pay the seller through? Also is the inspection worth it on a $5000 car? I have some decent pictures, seller says there is no rust or dents.

yeah I would have some one check it out before putting down the cash! Also I'm sure there is a member near the car would check it out!

In the big picture,it's well worth a few bucks to pay a member or other with some automotive knowledge to look at the car, take pic's and report the findings.If your the buyer,I'm sure the seller will take some sort of deposit so you could pay the cash when picked up. It's that or,,,,,,,you drive there with a trailer or flatbed ready to bring your new cash sucker home.imp:

Many, many cars have been misrepresented on the net. I know, I have driven hundreds of miles to look at cars that was totally not what it was supposed to be. Be very careful. Even so called southern or western car are NOT rust free. Have the car completely inspected and look at lots of pictures if you can not look at the car yourself. If it is drivable, drive it or have some one drive it. I bought a car once with out driving it, just relying on the seller to be honest that everything was good. After I trailered it home, hundreds of miles, took it off the trailer and drove it, well, the clutch and all those components were shot, all brake components shot, all front suspension components shot and the list goes on. I called the guy and all he said was that everything worked for him. All I can say is 'Buyer Beware". Many times if a deal seems to good to be true....it usually is. Just my 2 cents worth. We're is the car located? I'm in Melbourne fl. Not sure if it's around me or out of state I know a few people all over the place it's worth it to have someone look it over again a few members might be near it or call a local mopar club maybe someone will be of help good luck

IMO the buyer is in the drivers seat. If you drive blind you don't drive far.
It is a given that sellers have some motivation. That motivation is not to become your friend. (you may be friends later)---heads up for sellers---
This community -FBBO- (and others) is a great place to help make a transaction good for both the seller and the buyer.

The bottom line is that a buyer is the one that says yes or no. If the deal feels creepy that should be reflected in the price the buyer will move with. Let the seller prove you wrong.
From a sellers point of view----If one expects someone to pay for your car you should expect a buyer that can see right through a scam.

I purchased the car sight unseen.
I sent the owner a down payment
When all was said and done I had it shipped.

Yeah the car is in Mississippi, the craigslist ad expired and he hasn't responded to my latest email so it's possible that he sold it already. From what I could tell the car was all there and solid. He says he used the car as a daily driver and it's in good driving condition. Didn't see any rust on the body, but he didn't have any of the passenger side of the car or the underside. If it is still available I'd want to have it looked at before I rent a trailer and drive all the way up there. 12 hours there and 12 hours back would be pretty bad if you go home empty handed
