I'm not even going to try and top usaroadrunners post lol so just Happy Birthday Khan.

Been a little busy trying to get some things done - and getting older too . . .

Been working on a couple of things around the house and keeping busy . . .

First . . . let's look at the stuff that I've been working on the car ( needed a little break from the tunnel hump, but I an still working on it ) so I dove into the gas cover, as I wanted to have the convertible be very clean and sleek looking . . . so here's the process . . .

figure out where I need to make the cuts . . . and doodle on the car like usual . . .

sm_gascap01.jpg

After cutting a hole . . . get the fitment for the new cover situated as needed . . . and mark the edges . . .

sm_gascap02.jpg

Cut out the metal that is in the way . . . and fit the new cover in place . . .

sm_gascap03.jpg

After welding it all in place, this is the look of the new cover . . . sleek . . .

sm_gascap06.jpg

Next . . . some home stuff - found I had a 6" wall in my bathroom ( remodeling the other bath that backs up to it ) and needed a bigger cabinet - so time to do a built in . . .

sm_cabinet01.jpg

Paint it . . .

sm_cabinet02.jpg

Work on building the lower two drawers for the cabinet . . . here's one . . .

sm_cabinet03.jpg

Build the cabinet doors for the center section . . .

sm_cabinet04.jpg

So that the end result will be a built in cabinet that looks like this . . .

sm_cabinet05.jpg

And a neighbor had this tractor for sale . . . and I've been wanting one for along time . . . so it's now in my carport . . .

Nice work Kahn, good use of wasted space on the cabinet and love the tractor. Can't remember what the 67s had for gas caps?

Finally getting back in the swing of things . . .

It's been far too long since I've had my hands in the Belvedere . . . and I'm finally getting my head back in the game . . . Lots of progress on the Tunnel Hump . . .

Welding in the top side . . .

sm_tunnelhump01.jpg

Welding with more heat . . . and I should have far less grinding needed as a result . . . ( I sure hope ) . . .

sm_tunnelhump04.jpg

Not bad . . . I think I'm getting the hang of this thing . . .

sm_tunnelhump03.jpg

And the bottom after I got it cleaned up a bit . . .

sm_tunnelhump02.jpg

More of the bottom cleaned up . . .

sm_tunnelhump05.jpg

It's going pretty well and I hope to have it done this weekend . . . FINALLY ! ! !

Well . . . I guess I hit somewhat of a milestone . . .

Just gone done getting the tunnel hump welded in the Belvedere . . . and for the most part . . . the major metal fabrication has been completed ( I think ) . . .

Here's what I've got . . . Getting this part to look "mostly straight" . . . took a couple hours of work last night . . . time consuming, but very much worth it ! ! !

sm_tunnelhump06.jpg

And the inside welded . . . and minimal grinding ( smile )

sm_tunnelhump07.jpg

Little closer look . . .

Now I think it's time to get most of the car in epoxy primer and get ready for the body work ! !

Great to see you back on it brother!

Thanks for all the support Goon ! ! ! ( it means a lot to me )

Good to finally be back on it - my oldest is doing much better, the temps are not freezing, and I'm getting my head back in the game . . .

This will be so cool when your done. Keep it up!

Thanks KB - great to see you back around ( although I would not blame you one bit for driving the tires off your 67 ! ! )

Congrats on a major milestone!

I have been getting my butt kicked at work, but I've been trying to at least check in and follow along. Things are getting serious now!!!

Keep up the good work!

Hawk

Love the way the firewall looks, nice and clean. Congrats on the milestone and good luck with the bodywork. Now that I have my computer back I can actually see again!
