After years of just cruzin and staying in the 10.0 range to avoid the licence requirement,it was time to turn up the wick some.I ditched the 750's for a pair of SV1's and started tuning. That created some new challenges when I went to an event and maybe went 2 or 3 passes. So I added a racepak UDX logger dash to see what I was doing.A logger is a great tool for tuning, but was only able to muster up some 9.9's.Tried a few timing changes that did not show much change. On another trip to e/town,the carslowed to 10.4 3 passes in a row with timing showing34* which is higher than I wanted.I was using a Holley Pro Strip Annilaltor ignition which was state of the art when it came out a gizzion years ago.MSD had didgital NOTHING yet.Anyway,,took out 2* of timing and it went 10.2 two MPH faster. That was it!! Installed an MSD 6al-2 and went to LVR,made 1 pass, went 9.8 @ 131and broke the stock gas pedal for the second time.
NOone at the track had a welder so it was 1 & done that day:icon_cry:

So that meant it was time to eat!

Get the freshened engine back in the WO.
Get the `cuda project mechanically/electrically done.
Get a new trans in the Gremlin.
Get the new car painted.

I want to make tire changes on my 77 to make it more drivable. Problem is I don't want to buy a set of tires and not like the final look, feel and drivability...which happened when I purchased the set I have now. I'd also like to swap out the gears to either 3:55 or 3:23's. I have a set of 3:23's so maybe them. The 4:30's were nice and I had some fun but I'd like to take longer drives without the high rev's.

This year is about drivability.

That 9.8 was a new best so far. 2 weeks later after installing the new ignition and throttle pedal went to Attco. 1st pass with the same tune as LVR it went a new best of 9.6,took out 2* and jetted up 2 bringing it up tp 99 square and it went another new best of 9.5 still showing lean.I was pulling plugs after every run and they were a little to clean & lean, but no speckling. That is how I ended last season. My goal was to get from 9.9 to 9.5 and I made it.
Just the other day is was very warm,so I took the car for a ride to blow out the cobwebs. It was idleing kinda dirty but seemed to clean up after a blast and a fill up of fresh pump gas.
I reduced the high speed air bleed from .035 to .030 and installed 96 jets. Will reinstall the O/2 sensors and make a few test hits after the coming snow and it warms up. I have a 3 lane in each direction concrete road to play on.Download the data and see where the tune is.Next time to the track I want to make at least 3 passes on the pump gas before I change a pulley and add some octane.
I also bought some piping and v-clamps to fab up some exhaust dumps, bet that will wake it up after being choked by an exhaust that goes out the back bumper. The goal this year is an 8 second time slip.

No blower on mine but it's best last season was 10.53 at 129 mph...would like to get her closer to 10.0 so have the following lined up before I take her out of the shop:

1) Install water/meth injection....there should be a few benefits from this including maybe reducing the cars tendency to lose a couple of tenths on a hot day. The cooler intake charge
should help that.

2) The main fuel tank is still in the car, but at the track, I run off of a one gallon fuel cell up in front of the rad shroud. I intend to get rid of that and put a 2 gallon cell in the trunk.
Should help the front end lift better and get better weight transfer.

3) Bumpers and hood are already glass but the front bumper brackets are not.....and on a 64 Polara they are HEAVY. Need to lighten them up or replace with aluminum.
There are a few other items that could stand replacement with aluminum......hood pin brackets, etc.

3) Still lots of tuning to be done with the dominator and the programmable MSD so maybe a tenth or so there.

Got about 5 weeks before the track opens, so I better get moving...LOL

Finish all the suspension, install all the parts I have already,
purchase the rest of the rear end & rear brake stuff I still want,
& to only do it 1 time...LOL

{& get her painted LL1 Surf Turquoise Metallic}
{maybe if life doesn't get in the way as much as the last couple years}

My car/projects budget is tight the past couple years,
spring is here, basically the house needs work like normal, after winter regular upkeep...
I hope I still have enough car money left after, house crap is all done 1st...LOL

to wake up and breath another day so I might get back to work on my list for the year

My goals are to keep reaction time between .04 and .02, race the entire series and remember that I do it for fun.

My goal is to sell Hemi-Itis a lower front valance for his 63 Plymouth.

Your on my bucket list Larry,I just ordered new 16.5x31 ET Street r's and a pair of 10.5W's.
Also went to order another set of Champion rear rims so I could have an extra set of rear rims.Turns out my rims are now collector items 'cause they make 'em single bead lock with double as an option.Just need to triple check my back space before ordering double beadlocks.
Hope we get plenty of SNOW for me to plow, those are DOLLAR BILLS falling from the sky!

Splicer,I have been reading about the water meth injection. Some pretty wild claims, but I have read that **** really works. When I reach my max intake temp and do not gain anymore due to heat,I will be able to see what that temp is. I have a sensor in the intake telling me the air temp,so far I have seen 205*. I am beding towards Rodney at AIS for a w/m system.

Going into Pro/No Box this year. First year racing off the trans brake. Only get one shot at one with a king of the track race! I've always wanted one.

Get the new gas tank on soon, and hit the local cruz-ins this summer. Come next fall put in the 8 3/4 I bought, then front disk brakes. If the money is there, rebuild the 440 I bought in January. Work always slows down in the summer, so it might be close. That and I'm retiring in September. Might have hang around work a little longer to fiance the car build.

Well...it's like this. My wonderful wife..no really... my wife has made the statement, in front of witnesses, that she will not allow me to sell the Express. Can u believe that? I don't deserve her. So, that being the case I guess I will install the leaf spring relocation kit, tub the left well, finish the left front fender do over that YY1 just sent me the chunk to do, and sand down both doors and both fenders so I can get the entire car in primer. Then get my air supply set up right with the new plumbing kit and get the chassis black laid down as well as the undercoating. After that it's suspension and wheels/tires. That ought to about do it for this summer. Maybe...lol.

I just want to make it to the track and try out this 950 Proform carb my buddy lent me. Ron

My goal is to get my 67 GTX project on the track, any track. Target is to have it drag and road racing by May. 4 speed with hurst ready to go in, just got the disc brake conversion on sale. Still need steel passenger fender and hood, windshield. 15" steels to clear the new brake calipers. Need to add three crossbars to the nhra roll cage for scca tech. Daily Craigslist searches. This stuff adds up, I'm glad I finished the 70. Good thing about a gutted race car is there is so much room to work compared to a street car. don't have to disassemble anything its all right there. Fun!
