about That car....

That car is very nice! I have never seen one before and it really does look like a 4 Door Barracuda........even without squinting.
All I see from that picture is a folded corner piece of paper with a frown.

ECS cmon you have seen this before....remember Mad Max!

TUFCAT keeps getting mentioned by YOU? ........

Don't exaggerate now! I wouldn't be surprised if someone posting here is not his alias. I haven't thought about or mentioned the guy (other than tonight) in quite some time. Going back and looking at some of the old threads reminded me of him. I hope he's doing well...........

I have only seen bits and pieces of Mad Max. Was THAT the type of car he drove in the original movie?

Yep, complete with an aftermarket nose cone. Some of the factory originals could even beat the Max car for looks. Hard to beat this.

It looks like something sold here in the States during the Bicentennial - minus considerations for '73+ bumper regulations.

P.S.: Just realized the new forum software auto-resizes photos to browser windows. Here's hoping the mods reconsider the 800 pixel image width limitation to 1280 or so. Rather counter-productive to download and resize photos when doing a simple photo reference like the Falcon above.

I can tell you for a fact he is NOT one of these guys....He is doing well, I will relay your kind words...

Sadly, Dave, that seems to be how society is anymore.

Tell me about it. I guess all you can do is keep on moving forward. It's always better to get along than knock heads all the time.

They even had a 2 Door version!! I have never seen that model of car before. Were they limited production?

The one I reference above is a 1975 John Goss Special, which supposedly had a limited run of 400, with a possible second run (no confirmation on that to this day, apparently). Even then, the paint scheme is very similar (and possibly borrowed) from the Mexican-production 1973 Mustang Mach 1's.

However, the Falcon GT itself just another car you could by in Australia back then. The XB ran from '73-76, while the very Euro Ford-nosed Falcon XC that replaced it continued until 1979. The XC was one of the weirdest combinations of two polar-opposite schools of styling one could imagine: The front end styling copped from U.K.-market Ford products (complete with blue oval dead center), mated to the back end of a 1970's muscle car. Not to mention the blacked out window trim. And it worked! Not as well as the XB, but I wouldn't kick it out of bed:

More pics of the same car ....

When I was very young, my father had a 1973 Fairmont Coupe with a 302 and auto - a very fast car...but the Arab fuel crisis hit and forced many people to sell the muscle type cars in favour of smaller 4-cylinder cars. That Fairmont would be worth a fortune now.

Ah, Australia, how I love thee, for your Ford Fairmonts looked like this:

and not like this:

And they had wagons. Yes, a wagon wearing what looks like a Barracuda front end. Excuse me while I rearrange my brain cells and replace my shorted-out keyboard from drool:

Here's me driving my little brother around in my first car;

And here's a small glimpse of the rear of that Fairmont.....

Id be interested in reading any links you have about that accident. What a tragedy. You said the "Grand Jury" acquitted the person. Did you mean the jury during a trial as i thought the GJ decides to indict or not based on the facts from the District Attorney. Did this person actually walk on all charges????

My first car was a 1975 XB GT with. 351 4V . Fast car but now I know better:thumbsup:

The Mad Max car was a real joke when the movie came out, even then we where amazed that a blower could be turned on and off.lol

The ford XA XB XC 4doors where all used as taxi's .
The 2 door coupes where a nicer beast .Top of the tree where the Landau.

Just a quick update RC. The Water Pump Pulley and Power Steering Pulley for a 1973 340 are smaller in diameter than the ones used in 1970. The Crank Pulley also sits further out on a 1970 340 than the 1973 340 Pulley does. We have the "new" ones ready to bolt on after the paint cures.

See, it's a good thing I set you straight!

Interesting theory, but no chance.

That's just it; it's now 46 years later and there really is no way to prove anything. I simply saw the picture of that car & thought to myself; self, the grille, door handles and dimensions of that car seem similar to a Cuda. Of course without any sort of hard evidence, EVERYTHING is just speculation.

For the record, I have no beef with Mr. ECS or anyone else here. As I have said before, I think that he is doing top notch work on the car, but my own personal gripe which got me going was the "additional speculation" of many other 4-door versions of 2 door cars being presented as fact. Later, the added discussion turned to the possibility of false VINs being made.

I really don't have anything additional to add and for me, this topic has run its course.

And yet you keep coming back on here griping.
