Just got my speedo working finally on my 64 Dodge. New cable, and the speedo drive looks good after clocking it in. The odometer works good , but the speedometer needle is erratic. Anyone know what is wrong, or what to do to correct that?... Thanks for any info.......................MO

I would check for any kinks (or tight bends) in the cable route, also I remember someone saying lubrication of the inner drive cable is a good idea.

New cable and I was careful not to kink it or get it to close to the exhaust. Thanks..BTW the speedo has not been in use for several years........................MO

I had that problem on my Roadrunner. I shot a little bit of WD40 into the hole the cable connects to and that helped. I think the issue is lubrication of the speedo mechanism, and it really needs to be taken apart to do it properly.

Old school way to go (works well) is to use some graphite on the inner cable. The best way would be to pull it out, spay coat it & slide it back in (that's possible, right?). Second best way is to put some of the dry powder graphite (sold in hardware stores or at a lock smith shop) on both ends and it will work its way down into the cable (at least partially). A tiny shot of WD-40 into the back of the speedometer itself might help too.
