I have a 1968 Plymouth Satellite and I want to know if the hood can be repaired or should it be replaced. the hood is fairly strait other than when you go to close it bends at the hood hinge attachment point. I have to have someone push on the hinge to get it down then someone else to push the front of the hood at the same time. It is not in paint and the car is a project. Should I just replace it or try and fix it? Thanks for your replies.

I am sure the hinges could stand to be lubed. The car is in storage so next time I am there I will take pictures.

I am sure the hinges could be lubed but the structure of the hood is compromised. The car is in storage so I don't have pictures at the moment. I plan on dragging it to the house soon to do some work and get it running. I will probably just remove the hood for now until I get the hood repaired or replaced.

I'd replace it - Satellite hoods are a dime a dozen. Get the hinges rebuilt while you at it to keep from bending the new hood.

Ah, nevermind. There is a Taft in Oklahoma. I have a good 68 Sat hood with hinges I would be willing to sell. Has been inside for 20 years. Replaced it with a liftoff 6 pak hood and have no intention on ever going back to the stock hood. Too good to throw out but not much demand for it as most Sat owners want a RR hood. Too bad I wasn't closer to you.

I wish I was closer too. I have a friend in OK who keeps trying to convince me to move there. Just out of curiosity how much would you want for it?

Well, I don't know . I hadn't thought too much about it. It's original paint (green) . Looks to be pretty straight but it's faded and dusty so a thorough cleaning would probably show up a few little dings. Hinges are still bolted to it. Has the Plymouth emblem at the left front and the Medallion in the center. I pulled it off around 1995 to go to the six pack hood and it's been stored in the garage or in a spare room ever since. I would take 125 for the hood and another 75 for the springs if you wanted them. I won't ship but if you had a friend that wanted to pick it up , that would be fine. I am in Bartlesville OK. Obviously , if you are interested I could send you a few pics.
