Hello. I purchased a pair of AMD stamped steel valve covers for my RB build. had them professionally painted, then found out the baffles under the oil fill hole and PCV valve hole hit my adjustable rockers. They've been sitting in storage since. I have about $280 into them, and want to use them on my car. The other day I grinded out the spot welds on the baffles. They now fit. Question is....can I run them without the baffles? What problems will I run into? Is it worth it to modify the baffles and re-weld them in a place that works for my set-up? Thanks in advance.

Even with a properly functioning PCV system your breather will get loaded with oil. An alternative fix would be a baffled breather grommet.

Not good to hear...What rockers and cam are you running with the AMD covers?

I recall seeing a thicker, higher quality gasket (not cork) from one of the vendors. I just can't remember who it was...

I'm using comp adjustable rockers with a comp cam with .500+ lift with stock big block valve covers, I have no interference. I'd try to weld the original back in a little higher even if you have to trim them slightly or fab some new ones. The Moroso universal baffles aren't big enough to work right.

Easy fix !

Not sure what was done here to fix. Can you explain? Did you re-weld the baffle, higher in the top of the valve cover? Thanks to all for the responses.

Didn't remove baffles, just cut clearance for adjusters.

Must have bought those covers a while back, we had the same problem. called and bitched to Alan at AMD and the next batch they made were fine. they stand behind their stuff pretty good.

I spoke to someone at AMD a while ago. Sent photos and explained the situation. They never did anything about it. I gave up and figured I'd use other manufacturers when possible.

If they made the covers to original specs,I doubt they would change them.

I bought a pair of those rocker covers. Not a happy camper, when I noted one of the baffles was spotted at an angle. Cut the baffle out, and re-welded it in right.

Just sold a set of amd covers today actually, they seemed to fit perfectly, the ones I sold a year ago didn't
