When installing any system such as this you need to plug the original hole inside the block where the stock pickup was located. Is there any reason I CANT use a brass plug that I was able to find with the correct thread or would it have to be a steel plug? I'm probably over thinking this but Ive never installed one and want to be 100% correct

Standard 3/8 pipe thread any parts store or hardware store will have them, steel is what I use. Just installed one a couple months ago.

I don't see why not. 440 block is 3/8" NPT Hemi is 1/2"NPT. I wouldn't install until block is cleaned for assembly.

the threads in the block are 3/8" straight pipe thread. the pitch is the same but the taper is less for straight pipe thread. doesn't mean a tapered thread won't work but does mean you should use some type of sealer on the plug to make sure you don't suck any air.

Never heard of SPT, I learned something. Good thing I used Lock and Seal when I put in my pickup.

This is the same pan and external pickup our friend Canyon has on his new motor and is having trouble getting the motor to drop in without the tie rods hitting the oil pan...any suggestions ??

Mike I got that part resolved. I had to do major surgery to the motor mount and steering box mount.I got it in but now I need to weld some additional stiffners on that steering box attachment since it was part of the motor mount. I got the motor to fit with a 2 degree slope on the motor. All clearances are now good.
I found a very cool app from Tremec to verify driveline adjustment. Iphone or Android and its free. very helpful tool. Check it out...

Glad to hear it.

You can plug the passage with a cup plug. My motor has the internal pick-up shaved off. Been this way for years.
