Hello all,
I am having a hard time disposing my old car battery. I've heard that batteries should be disposed with care. I also read many articles regarding disposal of batteries. So I would like to know who you all dispose your old car batteries. Hoping to get suggestions from you all. Thanks in advance.

I've always used them as a core when buying a new one. Most places require a core or they charge you more for the new one

Holy ****....47 years????

There's usually a bit of value to an old battery, it has a lot of lead in it. For example, Mississauga scrap metal pays 34 cents a pound for old lead acid batteries. Most recycling depots are happy to take your battery because they'll make money on it. Where in Canada are you?

I usually core them but occasionally dump the acid out (gravel driveway) flush it out with a hose and break it up . Melt the lead down for fishing weights, jig heads, ect...

I have a small, metal-recycling yard[transfer station], about a 1/2 mile from me. They buy all my scrap.

O'Reilly Auto Parts will give you $5 for the core even if you don't buy a new battery ($8 if you do)

My local Napa buys cores, pays a lot more for them than you can get at a salvage yard.

I always turn it in as a core where ever I buy the new battery from.
I think my local O'Reilly's advertised $10 for your old battery. Of coarse they make it up on the other end with a $150 battery.

I scrap them with a local recycler. $5-6 each last time IIRC.

My local scrap yard pays $.15/lb.
For old batteries.

I think you got screwed.they gave me a gift card for $10 on my old battery

I give them to a friends shop. He lets me put all my oil in his tank so I donate the battery.
