Hi, Once again i am back asking for some help. I finished up the convertible only to find out the back up lights do not come on.. I went to the switch (lower part of the column) only to find out the lever to engage the switch is missing (gone, gone). Does anyone know where i can obtain one and can you install it without pulling the column out??

As always, thank you!

I was thinking the plastic lever on the switch?

I would think you have to get into the Colum to replace that rod, how the heck is that missing/broken?

When the column is taken apart that plastic post is broken off. Sacrificial part that is unobtainium .. Use a sheet metal screw or a 3 pin switch on the trans. Yes it is easier to drop the column to put the screw in for those of Us with fat hands.

I recently found a NOS plastic pin/ lever and paid about 50 bucks for it. Expensive for what it is, but in the grand scheme of the whole car project, what's 50 bucks? If it's rare and you need it, you got to pay.

Yikes $50, I would rather use the screw. R.C. will surely give a comeback. HeHe...

Believe it or not I might be able to get some nos ones let me make a few calls.

Resurrecting the thread.
Anyone ever come up with a fix?
If I had a drawing I might be able to 3D print a replacement.
I assume you could tap the hole in the column shaft and use a screw? Anyone know the height?

Billccm,
I don't have the answer, but was thinking the same thing. Decided to do some searching to see if anyone else already had an easy/easier fix. I've already printed several other parts. Will attempt this as well.

EDIT: The fix was a lot easier than I expected. Used a 1/4-28 x 1-1/2" stud with a jam nut. Threaded right in with a little effort.

I just got the pin and it didn’t work .. the pin just gets kicked out so I did the above mentioned fix... don’t waste money on this oem pin

Thanks for the tip. If you have any pictures or tips on installing I'd appreciate it. Did you install with the column in the car? Did you have to tap threads?

I just finished this project myself. I ended up installing the trip pin using JB Weld. It worked beautifully. It's not going anywhere and is as solid as a rock. Yes, to get at things easier you really need to pull the column.

I did it with the column in the car and no tap, but my heater box is not in the car.

What's the approximate length? I need an idiot proof photo to visualize the fix. Thanks for any help. Have a nice day.

The stud I used was 1-1/2" long. If you PM me your email I'll send some pix.
