I'm in the process of trying to rebuild my floor shift steering column in my 73. My question is how many did they make. I have one that has the rag joint style and then another one that just has a coupler on it without the rag joint. And then a column shift column as well that I was going to use for parts. I would like to use the one without the ragjoint because I think it would give more clearance with my headers. But I notice when taking it apart what looked like plastic shear pins looked busted except for one. Can those be replaced? And also it's missing the floor mount plate

All of the 73 Chargers that I have seen that have isolated K frame have the rag joint steering column. The non rag type columns are for 71/72 Chargers with the non isolated K frame. I am in the process of doing the same swap to my 73 Charger. I picked up a rag joint type floor shift steering column for it,and I am going to swap the ignition key switch from the other column into the new column. I will also be repainting it and installing the tuff wheel steering wheel adapter that I just bought for it too.

aside if they are floor or column shifter there are 3 diff steering columns. 71/72, then 73 and then 74

71/72 are straight without isolation up to steering box
73 uses the PUCK kind rag joint, just right before the steering box. The coupler is before the puck jount
74 gets a thin kind rag joint, a small shaft section, then the coupler straight to the steering box

I have a 73 car original 318 with a column shift and wanting to use a 72 floor shifter column because of the added clearance for the headers. Do you know what mounting plate I would need for this combo? How can you identify if the 72 column I have is a power steering unit?
And what wiring harness I would need. I have both the 72 and 73 floor shift columns tore down.

And thanks in advance

I don't really know if the lenght between 72 and 73 changes

The mounting plates are the same. The diff one is 74

All wirings are the same.

Manual steering box got a bigger stud so the coupler got a bigger coupling hole, but inner coupler parts are the same. If that's the case you can change the coupler and match with your steering box
