I'm in the middle of rebuilding the front suspension on my Polara (factory 383 4 speed). Today I pressed out the upper "A" arm bushings and went to install the new ones I purchased from Rock Auto...... and the new ones are way too small.

The ones I removed measured 1.88" long, and the taper was 1.152" to 1.176". The new ones (Moog K325) measured 1.925" long, and the taper is 1.125" to 1.135" which is way too small. I checked with Rock Auto and they called Moog to verify the size. Moog verified the length 1.925" and the taper 1.125" to 1.135" and said they should fit my '64 Polara ..... but they don't.

Does anyone know if there were different size bushings for the '64 or is it possible my control arms have been swapped out somewhere along the line? I'm the second owner of this car and I'm quite sure the original owner has passed away by now, so there's no way I know to verify if they've been swapped.

Any suggestions???

If there's an updated design moog will use it, I got strut rod bushings from them and they called for no use of the inner sleeve and were a bit different in size, went together fine

When I bought mine I think I bought the MOOG-K7103 ... I will check when I get home.
I believe the K7103 is an offset bushing set for '65 Coronet plus others.

The more I research this, the more I believe this car was either a very late '64 build or the original owner swapped out the upper "A" arms for '65s. Looks like the AC Delco bushings for the '65 Coronet may be the same size.

I just did the arms in my 65 Belvedere, and they measure out to what you removed from your 64. I used Napa. The part number is 267-1192.

I ran into a bunch of problems rebuilding my front end, my car was originally a 318 car and previous owner swapped the k frame and god knows what else tool me quite some time to get everything back together

I just rebuilt my upper arms on my 64 Sport Fury with moog from Rock Auto. Will look at the part number on invoice tomorrow.

Did some more research and found ACDELCO 45G8007 bushings for the '65 Coronet (which listed the measurements) are basically the same size as the bushings I removed from the car. I cross referenced these and found that MOOG K408 are the same size, and half the price. So I ordered a set from Rock Auto. Should be here sometime Wednesday. We'll see then if these new ones fit.

Cl, I have found that the big block cars had some odd suspension quirks, front and rear! my 64 ply 426w car has the 11x3 drums on the front but not the back! the ball joints are the big ones, I changed the k years ago to a 67 GTX, has a top leaf on the rear from a 64 state cop car, and the rest of the spring pack is from a 76 chrysler new yorker!! my stuff is weirder than most but works. Dave

I got my upper bushings from Advance Auto fit perfect

Confirmed that the upper control arms are from a '65. The new MOOG K408 bushings (for a '65) fit perfectly. Why the original owner changed the UCA's out is a mystery, however at least I know now they're '65 instead of '64.

Glad ya got it figured out, it wasn't very frustrating trying to rebuild my front end
