Remember The Days Before Political Correctness and Snowflakes?

Can relate. Fell out of a tree and broke both wrisits. Broke the right side again later playing "Army. Then there was the poison ivy under the cast. The rest I won't admit to.

This video explains most of it.

Yeah - I can relate too. Growing up with eight siblings we did it all and somehow we survived. Everything today is about coddling, liability and how to soften the blow for the snowflakes of these later eras. I'm glad we grew up when we did and didn't have to experience the pussy foot generations of today. We were lucky we had the greatest generation for role models. There's so much more you could say about this topic.....

I have 5 siblings and we were kicked out the door at 7 AM and told not come in the house unless we were bleeding or unconscious. Seriously, my MOM would say exactly that.

Didn't know what a snowflake was until just now when I looked it up.

There were lots of times when we were either, or both, and still didn't go home. I don't recall wearing any Band-Aids as a kid...lots of Mercurochrome though...

we had a playing field with a "storm water drain" on both sides of it ,used to spend as much time in the drain as in the park ( riding bikes ,catching lizards) even though "they " used to warn you about "flash floods " in fact the flash floods were a ball used to ride our bike with the flow . greatest challenge was trying to jump said drain ,used to ride from one side of the park to the other flat out and then just "launch " at the other side over the drain made it once ( didn't countless times ) broke an arm and a wrist but still kept going back and trying  that's what being a kid was all about ,learning your limitations ( not letting someone else tell you what you could or couldn't do )

Us boys, 6 of us, half naked, brown as nuts, riding Stingrays bare footed without helmet, would gather around a challenge and dare each other to go first. You would hear arguments like..." Well Darrell, you gotta do it this time, me an' Kenny broke **** last time and Bobby's Mom cant take any more blood."

Riding stingrays, oh the memories

Yeah, I wish I had a bike with slicks, sissy bar and banana seat, at least three speeds (though my family was too poor). My parents (divorced when I was 14) couldn't afford anything more than Catholic school for us six kids, but we never knew that we were poor. No welfare or food stamps for us. It was a time of family pride and shame on the whole family if you screwed up and did something really bad. Severe discipline and punishment were the norm if you didn't toe the line. That was an age of personal responsibility.

I had a 5 speed stik shift purple stingray was a cool bike for awhile. Then dirt bikes were popular had to get the aluminum Race Inc. to be cool again. I got a job when 15 if I wanted anything, even clothes.
