I know there is no such thing, but what would be the closest? I had to remove one side and now it leaks bad, they look like those cheap cork jobs.....also, I probably tightened too much or maybe not enough.

Morroso gaskets. You can get them at Summit but their not cheap.

Currently running cork on my big block, superformance on my small block. Both have factory stamped steel valve covers, no leaks. I rtv the gasket to the valve cover, and dry against head.

Ive used both the moroso (yes not cheap) and the felpro VS13379R (bb) with success. From what I was told felpro is not making the rubber version anymore. I like both no glue nothing put them on dry and make sure rocker arm cover is straight, and gently snug the bolts down, don't reef on them let the gasket work for you.

The high line felt pro gasket they make for big blocks work great.

another vote for the fel - pro, the ones I have are a rubber/ fiber mix and work great, Little napa brown gasket sealer on the covers nothing on the head.

It's been a while but I glued 2 sets of Victors together w/yellow weather stripping adhesive. Using M/T valve covers though. Someone used to sell an extra thick cork gasket but couldn't find it when I ordered these.

Felpro. The drivers side near firewall leaked. 440. After a shitload of heat cycles, got it to stop. Probably over torqued, but dry. Had to buy the star shaped socket to get a good bite. I am a novice. They are not coming off again unless absolutely necessary.

Mine is leaking on the pax side near the firewall directly onto the headers.....good thing I have a fire extinguisher under the dash.:D

That's exactly what I have done. Set the cork gaskets to the covers and align, then gently screw the covers down to the bench for the RTV to cure overnight. Keeping the head side of the gasket clean makes a better seal, and no worries about a loose gasket falling out of position when installing the covers.
I've tried the stock replacements in the Felpro engine gasket kits, but found they leak more than a $20 Hooker.

Same as above placed cover gasket side down and a case of water on top.
Leave overnight and works great.

My 505' w/ tti headers melted the moroso gaskets, had to go back to fiber for the heat. # 2 TUBE IS ALMOST UP against the cover on raised port heads.

You mean as in hand tight plus half a turn more?

I got some from o'reillys, told them it was for a '71 imperial and they are the rubber-ish kind...work great not too expensive, I still have a weepy spot but it's the lame MP black wrinkle covers..superperformance are great too, anything exhaust I use remflex
