Panel alignement issue...

When I stand behind my 67 Coronet and sight down the top outside edge the gap point in between the front top door edge and the rear top fender edge is kicked out. The door top hinge is flat up against the pillar and the fender is in line with the door gap. To fix it all I can see to do is move the front end of the fender out until I achieve a smooth flowing line across that top door/fender line. But, that will screw up a load of other stuff. The car had been hit by a tree falling on the top of that fender and the end of the cowl. The fender on it is not the original. I guess what i'm saying is that all other gaps and lines are good but that area.

I think you would kick the front of the door out a little.

That would make it worse, it is already pushed out of line to the outside.

Sorry Ghost but I don't think the gaps on these cars was that precise. I can barely see it on the pic from the rear. Looks ok to me, JMO.

I understand. I'm not happy with it though. I think that the fender & door in the 8 inches to either side need to be moved inward about 1/4 inch. Maybe 3/16ths. Just the sheet metal, not the whole door or fender. The fender has more adjustment available still so no issue there, it can be moved in. The door however is already bottomed out at the hinge mating surface. Either the pillar is pushed out or the hinge is bent, or the sheet metal at the top of the door is pushed out. If I don't fix it , it will drive me crazy. I can finesse the gaps through slicing out the gaps in halfway set filler.

I think there is some adjustment at the door side of the hinge. you might be able to move the plate inside the door to get some adjustment. I'll look at a door frame I have at home after work to get an idea. I understand your frustration with one section when you did so much custom work on the rest of the car. Looking good by the way!

Too late, you're already crazy! Wow, I'm just not seeing it...they look pretty straight to me. But if it bothers YOU, then re-align it. You can move/add/remove shims OR if worse comes to worse "waller out" a couple of the holes to get a little more adjustment than the factory intended. I've had to do that from time to time on cars that had been wrecked.

Ghost check this. This is the driver's side trunk on my 66 Satellite. The space on the corner is 3/8" and the trunk lid has never been off the car or hit. Wish I had a picture bottom of pass door 1/2" gap and the chrome at top of door isn't close. Factory drilled the hole wrong on the door skin. Second pic door gap by windshield.

It's tough to capture it in a photo. It's out just enough to interrupt the lines going forwards. Eye goes right to it. lol. Thanks for the suggestions guys, i'm going to tackle it tomorrow.

Ghost your going to have to move the fender out with a few shims. The fit on these cars where very bad. Your options are to cut 1/4 inch out of top hinge and weld back together. I know this body stype very well.

I think it looks pretty good GR, and like RT & others have said, these were really utilitarian vehicles not works of art....
The only thing I can see is the cowl area looking a little high and you need to do some weed eating...

HA! I pulled that weed this afternoon! I think that I will try to massage it a little but I'm not going to obsess over it. To much else to do. Going to hang the other side and see how it looks.
