Anyone selling a decent 600-750 CFM carb that fill fit my stock 383 67 manifold and air cleaner set up?

I'm now putting the original AFB back together after my first rebuild so just looking for a back up plan if it does not go so well and I'd prefer to buy an upgrade carb off you guys rather than an unknown eBay guy.

You'll do fine with the AFB if you follow the instructions with the kit. They don't come much better or reliable than a Carter AFB. Don't believe me? Buy an Idlebroke made in China and let the circus of issues begin.

Yeah I'd prefer to keep the AFB just having an issue with a single primary stuck jet that hopefully will release soon. Rest of the rebuild went very well.

Are these a poor upgrade?

Agree the Edelbrock on the roadrunner is about the worst thing I could have put on the car. The adjustments are pretty much worthless. I have a rebuild kit for the carter AFB but I cant get the butterfly shafts to even move. I have soaked the carb in oil, mineral spirits and various other things.. May just have to give up and get a rebuilt AFB

I've been running edelbrocks for years with no issues on several cars. I've not had to rebuild or open any one of them up. I've also rebuilt many for customers. No issues.

Might be a little bigger than you need ...dunno??? but I have a brand new 800 eddy in the box w electric choke I will let go pretty cheap... I'm going efi...PM me if interested.

The stock carb was a small Carter around that 600 cfm mark. The same size Edelbrock is also the same size.

The 750 would be OK up top but I myself wouldn't do it on a stock engine, with or without headers.

I have a Holley 850 double pumper on my Olds 442 that runs great. Was rebuilt etc. I sent out my Holley 950 race carb to be rebuilt, when I get that 950 carb back and if she runs good on the 442 and if you still are looking for a carb, let me know..Thx Vic

Thanks Vic I appreciate that, I picked up a shelfed AFB comp 9000 series over month ago and it looks perfect but it's stuck in an APO the last 3 weeks so I wait patiently for it to be released ... as does my charger

You are welcome..Good luck with the Charger.

Did the primary jet come out? If not a small butane torch might come in handy to gently heat the bowl up around the jet and let it cool do this a couple of times and it should loosen the crud that is holding the jet into the bowl. Some people get carried away and over tighten the jet when rebuilding the carb and the gas etc seems to want to weld the jet in the bowl. By heating the area up the dissimilar metals expand at different rates so after let things cool a bit you should be able to unscrew it without taking the threads off.
