What are the pro's and con's of polyurathane mount for an A833 4 speed tyransmission?
Thanks for your experienced input..........................MO

Hey MO, Pro they can take more abuse without coming apart. Con they seem to transmit vibration. I got rid of a vibration that would be harmonic between 55-65 mph by ditching the poly for a stock rubber mount. This was after chasing my tail with driveshaft ballance, clutches and dialing bellhousing and pinion angles. They are cheap enough give it a shot.

IIRC my rubber mount was not new. I don't have all that much horses, probably about 400, so maybe a new rubber one would be OK. I wouldn't like vibration .. Thanks.........................MO

I don't have experienced input as far as a poly type bushing for the trans mount goes, but I will say this - if they were of benefit to the car, why didn't the factory fit them as standard equipment?
I have tried the solid mount option for my engine, and I hated it. I tried the poly bushes in my front suspension, and hated the ride. I tried the poly bushes in the rear end as well....guess what.....hated the feel of the ride.
Rubber is the way to go. Get the correct factory rubber, and you should be fine. Cheapy Chinesium substitutes will give an unfair and biased opinion on your thoughts towards the correct items.

Many thanks Kiwi. this is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Maybe not specific to my question, but helps confirm my opinion on other poly parts. That is the reason I chose Moog rubber bushings in my front suspension. Poly graphite bushings may be OK if you don't mind a "stiiffer" ride.
I still have the question--opinions on the poly transmission mount..................MO

MO have never tried 'poly' anything, but then I run Moroso (solid) Mtr mts from the racing days; so poly could work great for me especially if oil was getting on a rubber mount and eating it up.

My near new stock type engine isolaters are now toast. I thought about a solid left side Motor mount and a poly one on the right. I can't find a place to buy singles, so I would have to buy two sets. To many $. So I am going to try stock American made rubber isolaters and a Schumacker torque strap (rod) My luck that won't hold and I will spend a dollar to save a dime ! I just don't want to risk having vibrations from the solid mounts.............................MO

Mo, now that I think long&hard I can't remember what mine felt like with stock mounts( it's been 30+ yrs, lol).

I use rubber engine mount with a Schumacher torque strap and a ploy trans mount on my Dart. On my 64' Polara I used all poly, you could put a glass of water on the engine and it would barely ripple the water.

Sounds like your engine was very well balanced.
I am going to use my stock tranny mount , as it appears to be OK. If the Hurst shifter still does the funky motion, It will be easy to install the poly mount

Thanks all for your input. Very few Mopar folks around here to bench race with, So I depend on good information from FBBO to put me on the right track .......................MO
