I pulled into a McDonald's this morning and saw a charging station (electricity pump) for electric cars right next to the handicap only spot. What got me looking further was the sign that said something to the effect that if you needed a charge you had a preference for that parking spot.
Sorry that I didn't get a pic of the sign.
First off I get the idea of charging stations as coming a need everywhere and the "fuel hose" will only reach so far.
Where my mind goes is to exactly what happens (or could happen) if a gas powered car actually parked in that space.--Against the sign saying that it was for electric car charging only?-(or the like).
I already get how "handicap" spaces work (and am about to apply for a tag myself I cause am an old jack *** and my back hurts)
.
This got me thinking about the big picture of charging electric cars. I have seen them at rest stops on the freeways and expect them to eventually compete with gas stops.
For now, I am inclined to park my gas powered vehicle right in front of a charge station just to push the point of getting their **** together to get it done and get it done right.
Fill your car at a "filling station" or at home.----Don't block more parking spots at every business that already is bent over to provide spots for the handicapped.
BTW when I go to my local Home Depot I see 30+ parking spots for the card carriers that are empty and the rest of the lot is full.
