My Very Rusty 70 GTX. Any Thoughts?

Hahaha, Sure thing. Im greener than an apple... Still learning how to do things, This is Exciting i must say! I've knew about this forum for a long while but thought you had to pay to sign up etc. Hahaha, Cool! I hope you can get er running Very Soon Friend! Yep, I remember Mopars were dipped in a anti-rust dip and it would last 40 years. But after that... I really dont know if it infact worked like it was suppose to... But when these poor mopars rust: they really do it to it... Good Luck Friend!

Been there, I was pretty "green" 3 years ago when I started this project, barely ever used a welder, have never taken a car apart . . . and the thought of cutting metal out of the car and welding new metal back in was a bit daunting . . . but I'm still plugging away at it and hope to have it done ( some year ) and be able to drive the tires off it ! ! !

The car is not terrible! Amd will save it I'd keep it on back burner and do up witch ever car excite s you the most . Worst case sell it to fund another or sell the others to fund it! I've started with less many times . But if you have to call it dead we won't say nothing not all cars can be saved and org parts are always needed .good luck and lest see pictures of the other projects
Hahaha, Thats Great Advice, Yep: im definitely going to have to hold this one to the end of the line... This one is going to steal All the cash and even the pocket change, Hahaha: ill see if i can get the other pics up for you guys to see.

Hahaha, Yessir! Where is that danged Cooter Davenport when you need him??? Hahaha, Yep: im glad to hear you're making steady progress with it! Its going to be one bad to the bone belvedere when you're done with it for sure!

Rust.....meh. That's what AMD and Miller are for! Good luck, it's a GTX, it would have to be pretty bad underneath not to justify resurrecting it. Once you get it all apart and see the bones you can make a real choice.

Until then
Hahaha, Another lead! Ive never heard of Miller! Amen to that, Hahaha! The GTX known by some as The Gentlemens Muscle Car. Talk about a Legend!

Unless you are handy with a welding rig, and good at panel work....you're going to make a Body Guy very happy, and cost yourself a fortune at AMD (like the Mad Scientist said above). I love the 70 GTX body, and I hate to see one go to scrap, but there is a serious amount of work needed here.
Good luck which ever way you decide to go.
Luckily we know a body guy. Time for me to go to school and learn up on these skills to take advantage cause im gon need em! Dont worry Friend: this is one thats going to live on. Im going to meet this thing head on and get it done! Thanks Hahaha!

That charger is cool and a 4 speed car man I'd keep it the satty is kinda what I'm interested in i like the newer b bodys I had a 70 383 4 speed charger it was decent but I got lazy and swapped it for a restored 72 charger and got board then sold it for a project! Then got lazy /hurt and bought a restored 72 again and now driving one and fixing one! Ah life's perfect! I always am looking for something to take apart! The driver needs it's paint stripped and some medal work done had some poor body work that I see lifting I need to stop it now before it looks like that gtx!

I'm a Lincoln man myself

unless he was referring to beer?
Hahahaha! I've got to try Coors. If it was good enough to get caught running by the smokeys( Cheers Bandit and Snowman ) : its got to be some Good Stuff! Hahaha, I like some Motorcrafts as well... I want a 71 Custom 500 after seeing Burt run one in White Lightning and Uncle Jesse "Black Tilly" in The Dukes: "High Octane". Hahaha, Yessir!

Wow! Hahaha, quite some things have passed through your hands! I know what you mean, in the words of an actor to one one my favorite films: "Brother: lifes a b-tch. And shes back in heat. Hahahaha! Yep, i wish i could have been around in the good ol days... My dad driving around in his 70 challenger, racing the backroads etc. Ill keep it short: i wish i could have stopped my uncle. Must have not been hitting on All cylinders... The porch light was on but no one was home: so to speak. He took not 1 but 2 Cudas to the crusher at the Same time. But i guess they didnt know no better back then... Hahaha, Thanks for the comment! I hope it all goes well and you can get a mopar you're comfortable with. Thumbs Up!

Little weld pac I bought for $60 bucks added gas and away we go! I have been itching for an upgrade the Lincoln 180 looks nice ! But $600 my little welder is still buzzing! To think someone bought it got the wire jamed in the line couldn't figure it out . Dropped it off to me says can you fix it! I told him sure ,he said how much then said well you know what I'll just sell this one for parts and buy a new one! ... I'll buy it $100 screw you it's broken ....we agreed on $60 and I was welding in under 10 mins got to love stupid people. He bought a new one and couldn't get it to work right he returned it twice then just brought his stuff to ke to weld .When he saw the little weld pac buzzing away he asked what was wrong with it . I told him the old operator! Haven't seen him since!

That's not rusty, that's normal. That looks like a great project!

Big block 4 speed with air!

It's a GTX save it if you can or sell it to someone who can to fund the other two projects. It's a matter of tast, what do you like? You are going to drop a bundle on it whichever one you choose so it comes down to your personal tast or likes. Good luck.
