Some are made in Taiwan and some are made in USA. Some are thicker than others and are harder to conform to the wheel opening. Some are brighter than others.

Who sells the best looking moldings?
Who sells the best fitting moldings?
Who sells the most correct moldings?

Mine are no name thin and regular anodized (aka not bright dipped or polished). They fit OK but not perfectly. But I have no prior experience or point of reference with NOS or unrestored cars. I can have all four of mine stripped and anodized for $60. However, they will need some deep scratches worked out.

Thanks FBBO

Is that the full molding or half moulding like GTX/Sport/Satellite?

OER sells MN1475 made in USA moldings for $345 and K2768 made in Taiwan for $263. MN1475 is thicker and sturdier than K2768 according to OER. Both are aluminum polished and anodized.

The originals were bright dipped and the repops are a "pita" to fit if your car is painted already (thanks Justin aka moparnation74).

Megaparts sells these and says the thinner ones are easier to conform to the body.

Classic Industries has 25% off orders over$279 through October 4. That makes the $345 $258.75 then they add about $40 shipping making the cost about $300.

I bought my first pair from Classic and the lefts didn't even match the rights for profile. I called and returned them. I asked if they could please inspect the next set before they sent them. They were 100% better. Although I haven't put them on the car yet, holding them in place they looked acceptable. These were the GTX 1/2 moldings.

Find a decent set of used ones & get them polished by a professional. Originals are stainless, not anodized aluminum.

Good luck with that. If you find some, get a set for me too. All 4. Mine are toast, not enough there to save.

Of course, nothing is for sale when you want it and it will take time. You might have to buy one at a time over time, but they are out there.

Completely agree....

BTW RC where did your last nice original set come from:thumbsup:

Mine are the thinner repros and fit pretty good. For what I would pay for originals that would need the same, I'm going to have mine stripped and polished then powder coated clear. I found a local powder coat shop and a local polishing shop that are both individually owned that do good work for cheap.

I wish my attention had not been directed to this ugly scene..

Dennis, I was quoted $60 to strip and anodize all 4 of mine. For that extra shine you could polish them before the anodizing and buy some new screws and have it looking sharp for under $100.

Jump on that if you know their work. New ones will cost you 4 times that. And never fit as well.

On my 70' Challenger I used the older repop Metro Parts wheel mouldings & I was impressed at how well they all fit even on the after market quarter panels. This is about the best shot I have of them.
