Someone call the cops, Kern has hijacked Ghost account!!!
Actually I think concours is French...Im not French...just as I don't spell color -colour...:poke:

Do it the way you want it. I have a '70 Coronet R/T that was banana freakin' yellow. I went with plum crazy and love it. I happen to know where the numbers motor and trans are as well, the guy wants 10X what I can buy them for everywhere. He thinks I'm crazy and tells me how numbers matching will increase the value, that's when I said that it would never be numbers matching after the way he and his buddies flogged it for 20 years. I had to rebuild everything, yes, everything. Besides, I'm gonna most likely tear up a motor or two, or some rear ends and trans. The paint is going to get chipped because I'm going to drive and enjoy it the way it was meant to be.
Just my worthless opinion, thanks fer listening.

Do what you want, here's my friends R/T next to my Challenger. Just the way you want yours!

I recently bought a really nice 1970 Coronet Convertible R/T in a disassembled condition. Based upon a previous thread I made a while back, I think I know who Im going to have finish it for me. It is a numbers matching car with an F4 color code. Not my dream color. I always told myself if I ever got one I was going to do it in a sublime color. Here is my question.
Should I redo the car in the numbers matching color or go with the color I have always wanted? Several people have told me Im crazy for not doing its original color on a somewhat rare numbers car and that I would kill the value. Im just looking for others opinions as to someone might come up with a point that I might not have thought of.
Thanks
Are you finishing the car for you or for other people. In other words, would you drive the car even though it's not your choice of color. Maybe you want to turn it over for a profit in which case the original would be a better choice. It's your car, personalize it like the last owner.

I agree with most of the above, if you plan to keep it paint it how you want and enjoy it. If it's an investment then sell it now, you probably won't get your costs back on a Coronet, R/T or not.

As said, it's your car, but you asked for opinions. F4 isn't the coolest color ever, but Sublime is done to death. The worst ones are the 70s Dart owners. I get you like the color, but almost any color would be better.

A color change is a big job but not as big as trying to reverse major metal fabrications gone wrong. Remember those ugly flared fenders of the 70s?
I see guys chopping roofs, shortening quarter panels, etc...THAT stuff is difficult for an average body and paint guy to restore to stock.
My point? I personally prefer to see rare or unusual cars restored to factory stock. How many cars at car shows are even close to the original color? History is fading and we are aiding in the process by covering our white, green or gold cars with red, black and blue paint!
Sure, the car is yours and you have the right to paint it how you wish. I am not arrogant enough to demand that you return the car to a stock color. If it were an investment, you know that stock usually means more value but since this is a keeper for you, make your decision based on what makes you happy.

Paint it whatever color you will like best, haters be damned.

Interesting thing about reading the opinions on this thread. They're all good and valid points. Each has its merits. Ultimately, it's yours to make. No matter, it's a great car & love to see it.

In the end you get to do what you want. Most guys would change it.

That said...how many F4 cars do you see anymore? Do you want to look like the rest of the crowd?

I would be tempted to stay with the original color with clear coat just to be different...

if you are worried about value in any way paint it original
if value isn't a thought or concern,do what the hell you please...

It's your car. Paint it what color you want.
However, if I was looking at it, being it's a mopar and everything gets painted body color, you can bet your *** I would deduct heavy from it if it was listed as or supposed to be a "correct" restoration and the wrong color. I'm not a hater of any color specifically, but wrong is wrong and on a Mopar it's a huge deal.

I'd prefer anything, to skittle colors.
