I did this to get a trunk open. took out rear seat and used extensions to take the trunk latch apart from the inside............................MO

It is for that application, I wish I had short sockets with the U joint attached. The joints that flop around really aggravate me..............................MO

As I recall it did take a lot of patience to get the socket on the bolt due to the U joint flop.

I tape the flex joint with electrical tape. It still flexes, but doesn't flop all over. I've also used heat shrink wrap, but doesn't last as long.

Paper in the socket to hold the bolt in place also works

I have some tic tac sized rare earth magnets, tape a couple to outside of a socket to hold bolt.

I like these ball joint, impact sockets. They come in a deep socket also.

I came across this video about making an anvil. It's kinda long but one can skip forward to get the picture.
It is interesting that it was even done. I have fabricated lots of big and heavy things and this brings a smile to me. (I can feel the effort at every point)
Why not make it entirely out of weld rod?
