What is it with people. Why can't somebody man up and call if they're interested in what you're selling.

What's all this text crap. Last time I checked, we weren't a bunch of teenage girls.

I just listed an engine and trans on CL and specifically stating to call because I won't respond to texts. Why? All I get are scammers.

I guess I'm just old-school and not afraid to talk to someone.

i like text it keeps a good record of what and who i have promissed..to busy to be talking for ever on the phone

Texting is just another way to communicate. My kids text me all the time, sometimes nonstop.
For the younger set at work my rules are simple, if its important - call. If it's just to send info, text me. I do not rush to answer text messages.
As far as CL goes, it's email 1st. Then if it seems legit I'll offer up the phone #.

I remember hearing on the local radio a year or two back, someone was actually looking to "sell/offer" this exact phone number....memory is fuzzy, but I thought it was a New York number...the person who was using it, was moving out of state, and had this number for quite a few years! And since there is a song with this number....our dj's picked up on it and were yakking about it! The Kinks? J. Giels Band (sp)? Can't remember who sang it.....

I try to keep my texts as short and to the point as possible. I've never understood trying to carry on a conversation via text. My granddaughters are always texting. One day I ask them, If you have a phone in your hand and your friend has a phone in their hand, why don't you just talk to each other? My question was met with a half disgusted, "Ohhh Pepaw".
My Ex was going to the local county fair and she sent a text to her friend, I can't wait to get some corn dogs and she hit send. What spell check sent was, "I can't wait to get some condoms."

I prefer email because I type a heck of a lot faster than I can text but I've had several successful sales from CL that started out with text messages. If the conversation starts to get long, I ask if I can email them or call then all the important info can be talked about. As for scammers....been awhile but I'm finally dealing with one from earlier this week. Years ago I got one caught by the cops and will keep on trying to tag them whenever possible.
