Wow, I've skimmed through it and what a wealth of knowledge. If I can't find a tq from '72, it appears that I can make enough adjustments, etc. to make this one work.

FWIW There were also after market Thermoquads that one could buy back in the day.
Every now and then one will show up at an automotive swap meet. But you need to know what to look for.

Indeed. I read about those and found it very interesting. I have time so I shall tinker with ye olde Thermo and go from there.
 
Anything equipped with a 4 barrel
2bbl carbs had leanburns computers.

Now what year did the lean burn start? I don’t know for sure. I may be wrong saying ‘75, but it is possible.

The “Aftermarket” TQ carbs are the small primary versions with an electric choke. The throttle arms cams in MoPar style and Chevy style. Just a one keyed positive wire hook up is all it takes.

Do not get a ‘71 model. There metered differently.

I know I could easily dump it and get a Edelbrock intake and carb, but that's just not me. If anything I'd maybe get an Edelbrock intake that would work for the T, if it would help.
 
Take a look at the Street Demon. It has what I would call a square bore flange but I think it will work on a spread bore intake with a thin spacer. This you would want to check on to confirm that is the case. Otherwise you would need the square bore to spread bore adapter. It is a sweet carb. It's even made with a phenolic/plastic center if you want it that way.

I had this carb on my '73 340 Challenger (factory equip) I bought as a demo in '74 and drove it around 40k before the carb started giving me problems; lucky it was the day after I got back home driving from FL to WI. Come to find one of the floats had a pin hole in it. Carb always seemed finicky before this happened so switched it out to a Holley and car ran better than it ever did.
 
I hear ya Ron. That does happen. I challenge myself to rebuild the Q. I've heard it all about "oh it'll never work", but I prefer to try and at least educate myself.

Then, if it fails, at least I didn't sit on my *** and just give up.

In ‘72, there are 2 primary sizes. 1.38 & 1.50. Which would you want and would the other be OK?
The smaller primary (1.38) is better for stock to match or changes.
The OE iron intake performs great and is only heavier than the Edelbrock Performer or any other aluminum intake.
 
Makes good sense rumble. Those E58s we're sorta built for performance so I can see the intake doing it's job. And yes, the smaller primary is better for this.
