I bought this Hemi block and it has never been bored, decked, windowed or cracked and has been completely checked out. If you guys can help I.d. this block it would help me understand the history behind it. The casting date on side of block is 5/4/64
Thank you: Stan

That block should be a correct block for a 1965 A990 car.
Stamped A= 1965, H= hemi head, 426=cubic inch, HC= high compression 12.5/1 .
Under those stamps is what looks like the WT stamp for water tested.
Not 100% sure on the rest but some where I still have my Darrell Davis book on the A990 cars, so I will try to look into it more.

Some place in Florida might have checked it out Jan 22, 2003. I hate when shops put their stamps on things. I use a sharpie which can be cleaned off.

Very interesting find! We all need more of the story!

Ok after looking at the Darrell Davis book the date on the bottom is
1=January 22nd and the 03 is the third engine built that day. So cast on 5-4-64 and assembled on 1-22-65. The rest is in the above post.

You would be correct.
Its Jan 22nd 3rd assembled for a mid production 1965 a990
Look at the picture and the example given in it, that’s where I got confused when posting. Yes the block on here is 1-22 so yes January.
A mistake on my end.
Matt

thanks guys for your info. It was helpful to know what each number item meant.

Thanks: Stan

Hey Stan, I am working to restore my original A990. Do you happen to still have this block and if so would you have any interest in selling it?
