B-Body restoration book

Justin- throw it out there! Leanna might not be correct on everything, but after a perusal; it's looks pretty good IMHO. Hey, she wants to be better also. Jeff
The same list was addressed in another thread....awhile back

My thread lists and shows every finish that relates to almost all pre 70 B bodies.....
http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/mopar...e-for-my-father-my-69-gtx-restoration.127388/

Now I am only referencing OE correct builds here, not people who don't care as to any finish or product...

Starters ZERO powder coat on any part,(no offense CC) the factory never used it and the judges can tell if PC is used....

Paint falls in sheen(%gloss), texture, and finish.....Any natural metal part painted is incorrect...

Go to my thread and do the research....I can also relay other build threads that provide similar information......Pictures etc I have a lot of info....I have spent over 25 years on originality mainly 68-70 B bods....

I am passionate about what I do and I strive to retain accurate information. Hence was one purpose of my thread.....Just click through the pages

Here ya go Jeff hope this answers your question....

Leanna I like ya I love your work and hope this information helps...Dont take offense this is my professional area of choice...

NO sway bars were natural....all semi gloss

NO lower control were GB...all were natural and cosmoline dipped

NO upper control arms were GB...all were natural and a light cosmoline coat

NO tie rod sleeves are SB...all were phosphate(the correct phosphate no one does anymore)

NO backing plates were GB...all were phosphate(the correct phosphate no one does anymore)

NO brake drums were SB all were natural cast finish and proper machined areas(shiny)

Idler arms, tie rods, pitman arm, lower ball joint were a natural cast finish

Center link was natural heat treated steel

Torsion bars are only GB and dipped

Spindles were natural cast and heat treated

Strut rods natural cast and heat treated

Transmission was natural cast steel

Trans X member Gloss Black only

Muffler hangers and clamps were phosphate U bolts hangers natural and hardware nut/washers clear zinc plate

Gas tanks were zinc plated, straps were a galvanized coat you can no longer get done anymore.

MC's depends on the specific cylinder used

Clutch z bar is clear zinc, shift rods and plates phosphate(most debate natural)

Thats a good start....

NO upper control arms were GB...all were natural and a light cosmoline coat

i have seen some examples as black
could be a plant/year thing????
the norm is considered natural..
the same thing goes for rear springs
I've seen it both ways.
usually your car is the best guide to go by..

We can debate that all day long Frank.....The black examples people have tried to prove as real have been disproven.....OTC examples do not count only original equipment...people through the years of owning a car got tired of seeing rusty suspension comments and sprayed bombed them. Then 20 plus years later another owner thinks they are black and restores them as such...Show me a real example of a black control arm? Preferably from a known "survivor" car?

Springs I have seen both ways as well....

I agree the car is the best guide...with the exception of known heavily documented items...
