I'm thinking about running the max wedge Victor heads on my new motor and I just like some opinions on guys that have them and how well they work.
Why do you want to use Victors instead of Trick Flow or Indy? What is the intended usage and goals?I'm thinking about running the max wedge Victor heads on my new motor and I just like some opinions on guys that have them and how well they work.
420 cfm + 355 cc intake I'm in the process of putting a 496 with 13.5 comp 700 lift roller and 500 up NOSWhy do you want to use Victors instead of Trick Flow or Indy? What is the intended usage and goals?

I don't know where that 420 CFM came from. I'd put money that the best set of Victor's won't be as quick as a good set of ported -1's.420 cfm + 355 cc intake I'm in the process of putting a 496 with 13.5 comp 700 lift roller and 500 up NOS

---I have has two sets of them. Early version from Edelbrock, and newer version with the CNC porting from Hughes.
I think the Hughes heads flowed around 385 cfm on the flow bench my cylinder head guy uses?
As mentioned, they are a pain to setup if you want to run high lifts.
I have the old T&D 1.6 rocker arm setup. I think T&D and Jesel have paired shaft rocker setup that replaces the cast in stands?
I broke the center rocker shaft stand on both of the early heads. The later heads have longer heli-coils in them, but we decided to mill the stands off on those heads also, and use the max wedge "block" type rocker stands with longer ARP studs, and Time-sert inserts in place of the heli-coils. Just running 0.726" lift with about 700# open pressure.

Funny that you threw me into this Coronet 440! Lol.
Yes I have Victor Max Wedge heads on my little 505. They seem to be working quite well. Mildly ported and flowing 348 intake and 277 exhaust I think it is.
And I'm using the hughes offset rockers.
I chose these Victors coming on 4 years back. Hughes was talking huge huge numbers and Indy seemed to be pissing lots of people off at the time. I don't recall 270's being out at that time.
If I was buying again, it would likely be Indy's. More and more, guys are posting nice numbers on the 270s but man, all the FAST guys are running Indy.
My car is good to go 10.0. With only a half dozen race days on both me and the car, I have no doubt that my MW heads won't put me right there though.
I see that Hughes offers a fix for broken rocket shaft bosses on Eddies, oh great.
IF, I was going to build anew engine, I`d look at the new trickflows real close !!Since everybody doesn't like the Victor's what head do I run
