Budnicks, I live in Rodeo and visit Concord a lot, in fact I will be going to Diablo creek tonight to hit golf balls and listen to live music at the range. Last year I won top award at their annual car show at Todos Santos Plaza.

small world sometimes
I moved from Concord late 1997,
My office was right across the street from Diablo Creek 10th Tee
my business was at a grey warehouse & 3 story building
my office was in the corner of the 3rd floor
across on Port Chicago Highway
I was an avid golfer/golf pro/golf repair & pro-shop owner moved to
Rancho Murieta CC, Eastern Sac Co.
lived there for 10+ years & then moved late 2007
to Sonora to have my dad close etc.

I haven't been down there very much in the past 20 years
I have a bunch of friends down that way still...

Budnicks, you're lucky your office was across the road, I've hooked a lot of tee shots of # 10. As a test of your golf ability, could you reach the # 3 hole in 2 ?

Probably if I remember the hole correctly
maybe 1/2 the time if I got a good drive off,
I could get close or pin high, chip on or out of the bunker

I was 2 handicap from 1989 up to 1997, in my 30's
pretty much a scratch golfer for about 10 years after,
sandbagger, when I lived in Rancho Murieta
they were 2 great championship quality golf courses

I was a member at Oakhurst late 80's - mid 90's before they went public
had a rental Townhouse there, it was tied to the property to have a membership
I was a member at Black Hawk for a couple years too, 2 awesome GC's too
I owned a lot there, I knew a bunch of members that I worked with
I had sold it & the membership mid 90's

I don't play too much now, not too many good courses close
have to travel too much, Greenhorn & Saddle Creek
in Copperopolis Hwy 4, it's 45 miles & at least 45 min.'s away,
Mountain Springs is close but it's a marginal course, up & down

I still do club repair & occasional lesson etc.
my skills have diminished I'm sure
life gets in the way, I have my senior dad living with me
cars jeeps trucks boats RV hunting fishing etc.

---------------------------------------------------
refresh my memory
isn't that hole like 557 yards or something ?
it's been 20 years I was 38, not 58 like now
wasn't there a small creek running across that hole too
you had to carry the creek or it was not possible
I seem to remember the one par 5 {can't remember hole #}
closer to hwy 4 that was down wind usually late afternoon,
was really long {?}

use to park my truck by the practice green in the parking lot
& shine the lights & Halo's on top of the rack on the green
so I could practice putting after hours...
I use to be severely addicted to golf...

not so much anymore

I use to play the back 9 a lot, just before work
or after my guys got off to work,
1st off the tee a lot of days before going in, on the back nine
that was the life, those were fond memories

sorry I got carried away :lol:

Budnicks , the #3 hole plays 635 yards from the blues dog leg left around a pond and almost always into a head wind off hwy 4. I always played it as a par six and would be happy at that. My lowest handicap was 10. I was up at Sonora 5 years ago buying paint for my cuda. I wonder if that store is still there. It was the closest place to buy Dupont centari that is hard to find.

Yeah it's not the whole I'm thinking of then...
was that the hole parallel to/by the Hwy ?

No way I could reach that one
not even driver tee'd & driver off the deck & getting lucky

there was a hole with a pond & fountain behind it,
a par 4
I eagled a few times, don't remember the hole #
IIRC it was a longer par 4 for back then,
5 metal-wood TaylorMade System 2 with the Rails on the bottom
{my go to par 4 tee-box club}
I could hit off the tee, or the deck, I could hit easily 250+ not spray it
& it was like a 6 or 7 iron in {like 180-200 yards}

there was a hole with a big *** Willow tree
you had to carry or curve around on the front 9 IIRC
seems to me it was a ball buster too

it's been a long time, bringing back some memories
