Installed some TTI's on the Rattelite awhile back, using their supplied gaskets (I knew better but wanted it done...) anyway they developed a few minor leaks so I ordered up a set of Remflex which I like to use. Got them all installed, fired it up and DAMMM if it didn't have one big-a$$ leak at cylinder 7 now. Traded two small ones for one big noisy one...couldn't get it to stop, either. Great. They went in easy, did my normal tightening sequence, did't over-torque 'em. I believe it was my fault, however; that one fell off my tool cart and landed on it's end. It didn't bend but I did notice a small hairline crack afterwards...it didn't go very deep though so I figured it would be okay. WRONG! I still like these gaskets but jeeez they're fragile..be gentle with them!

A lot of people have given up on gaskets and use RTV. I know the Sanderson headers on my wifes car required RTV and no gasket... Haven't had a leak in 21/2 years...

Use soft copper gasket, they are worth the 30 bucks.

I have had success with the TTI gaskets. Of course, each time that I have had to pull a header, some of the material peels so I have to toss it and get another gasket.
RTV ? Never tried it. It sounds like a hokey idea but some have good luck. Exhaust systems see more pressure than a valve cover or timing cover so how could RTV seal anything under that kind of heat and pressure?

I used to cut the flanges in between the pipes and simply not use gaskets.

Worked VERY well.

You mean pressures like the water pump sees? Or the pressures on the bottom end?
RTV is some a pretty strong stuff, it's made for pressure. And like I said Sanderson instructions specifically call for rtv and no gasket...proof is in the pudding I guess.....

I've had good luck with Remflex, but I agree that they are fragile.

Not just any RTV. Use either RED (650*) or COPPER Permatex or equivalent. Works best with studs so you don't bugger up the stuff trying to get the headers aligned.

Thanks for ringing in everyone..got my new gasket delivered from amazon this morning and we're off and running! (I was veeery careful...although I've installed these before and never tore one up like that LOL)

Rick Ehrenberg writes about using RTV on headers too. I still have not been compelled to try it.
Water pumps use gaskets with RTV, at least that is my method. Same with oil pans. I'm referring to the sole use of RTV as a replacement for any gasket. Maybe it works. I'm doing fine with what I use.
