hey guys,
Anybody know the best oil for the Moser Dana 60 detroit locker ?
My one is filled with the „ Motul gear competition SAE 75W-140

Specifications : API GL 5

But it’s a synthetic oil I think , and Moser say‘s and recommended a non synthetic oil with no friction addtitives

Regards Steffen

Same stuff Moser recommends, and what I use in mine (I have the TrueTrac)
True track also no friction additive requiered ?
Before I think only the Detroit locker not need any additives, and not like the syntactic oils

Definitely not for the Truetrac. The Truetrac is a torsion type differential that relies on friction to function properly. Using a friction modifier can cause problems and can cause overheating. Moser states that some synthetics are okay as long as there are no friction modifiers, but Eaton recommends using conventional fluids. As stated by a tech guy at Eaton: keep good fluid in the Truetrac and it will last you a lifetime and you can hand it down to your grandkids, as there are no parts that can wear out.

Thank you Road Racer!

What you think about this oil for my moser Dana 60 with Detroit locker .

Because it’s a synthetic, but not sure they have friction modifier or not inside this oil

I ask Motul directly yesterday , and they say’s there are friction modifier inside the oil.
Therefore it’s not the right oil for my Detroit locker .
Thanks all !

I've stuck with what Moser recommends and offers on their site. I'm not sure if the 140wt is necessary, I used it because I was racing, but later went to the 75/90 later.

I was going to say, when it comes to fluids, I know there are a lot of acceptable, quality fluids, but for my diff I stick with what Moser recommends since that's where I got it. I figured they've been in business for a while and if it didn't work 'best' for them, they would use something else. I've gotten 3 Truetracs from them in different rearends, and the only fluid I use is Lucas.
***I now see that Moser does show Motul and Amalie on their site, so I'm guessing they switched brands... when I got mine they listed the Lucas.
