My friend and I were pleasantly awoken this morning around 4:50-5am to approximately 6 shots from a semi automatic weapon and then some tire squealing. When we returned our key cards and checked out at 6 am. my friend asked the clerk who was working the counter "Did you hear the gun fire this morning" Clerk says "Yes it was some AZZholes arguing and carrying on and things got out of hand I took care of it and called the police immediately so no worries". This was at the Red Roof Inn on Brice road. Luckily from what he said no-one was seriously injured and hopefully no ones property was damaged. Crazy what that area has turned into over the years. Also was able to watch the Days Inn formerly the BEST Western burn up on Thursday evening too so no shortage of excitement....

Oh, for a minute there I thought that you were reporting live from Chicago. Sounds like you need to steer clear of cheap-assed hotels.

When will people learn, two grand is just too much money for a B body Dana 60! When will they learn?

I stayed at the best hotel right off a major interstate highway in Chattanooga for the Moparty Picnic event. I heard gunshots off in the distance on more than one occasion. In my short travels in the area I didn't encounter any "hoods" although I didn't stray far from my direct routes from the hotel to my destinations, and the area wasn't run down.

Was it deer season?

I didn't think about that. I don't remember the nature of the gunfire.
It was about 2 1/2 months ago, so I don't think it would be hunting related.

Mopar Nationals in Reynoldsburg ain't what they used to be that's for sure. Grew up during the good times with Brice Road full of tire smoke

Get a CCW & sleep in the car! Thought about that more than once.

Time to move the whole event to some where else. Indy or Norwalk ?

That wasn't a hard on I had when we met up at the Nats but rather a SIG P938:lol:

Don't leave my peaceful countryside without it.

My Ruger LCP II goes everywhere with me, all the time. (as long as the location doesn't have a weapons ban).

Any of you fellows remember when there was some kind of arrangement dispute between can't think of the guy who put the nationals on. Anyway national trails wouldn't host the event. So it was moved to indy. We all thought man indy will be cool car town, not this time with law enforcement anyway. Tickets left and right, threatening to arrest us for being in hotel parking lot after ten. Three of us in parking lot cold sober quietly waxing our cars and they asked us call it a night. Any one remember that.

Wife and I saw the fire Thursday night also, was quite a blaze. They were still watering it down on Friday evening. Must of still been plenty of hot spots. Glanced back to the lot at the Red Roof and saw several Mopars there, but left well before all the shooting began. (Thankfully)

We stay on Broad Street just east of the 270 loop. Area there is also going down hill and all kinds of crazies out there. I'm for moving the show also, how 'bout to somewhere way out in the country with NO cities anywhere close by.

Tough to find since I am not from out there and don't know the criminal urban sprawl.... We stayed in Granville at the Buxton Inn for 10 years but for three nights they priced us out of there at $200 plus fees and taxes per night which put it over $700 for 3 nights.

Yes I remember and Indy sucked. Got food and was eating it outside the restaurant in the parking lot. Cops came saw we had Mopar T shirts on and told us to leave as we were no longer patrons of the restaurant and we would be arrested for trespassing on private property if we stayed. Big time A-holes.

Pics of the fire at the old Best Western Brice Road now Days Inn... Burned out the Main lobby area and smoke was pouring out the Gable end vents.
