Were all 1973/74 Roadrunners built as fixed rear window cars or were there also hardtop cars as well? I've seen pictures of cars from these years with the rear windows rolled down but would they all be clones? I know that RM21 means "post car" and I have never seen a 73/4 VIN of RM23 so... no hardtops?

I had a 74 Satellite Sebring that was RM23. It had roll up/down windows and I have seen at least two others with electric windows (rear). I also had a 73 Road Runner that had the same window glass in the back but it had a metal bracket that kept the glass in the up position.

I believe all road runners/Satellites/gtx 71 and up are all 23 cars
after 70 the coupe or fixed windows became a option that
was designated just on the fendertag and not in the VIN so no 21 was used anymore.
the fendertag code for fixed windows is A93
and there was a code for power windows a5? as they were both options
roll up windows were standard after 71 so no code would be present.
so you could have all 3
roll up ,fixed or power windows
depending how the car was optioned out.

I ask as I have found a '74 Roadrunner that I am interested in (400, 4-speed) and it carries a VIN of RM21... from what I can ascertain, all 73/4 Runners were RM21 cars, not RM23.

Badvert65: I'm surprised to hear that a Sebring would be RM like a Roadrunner, and not an RH23 (Sebring) or RP23 (Sebring Plus). Are you certain about that?

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter other than the fact I like rear windows that roll down... and I suppose converting a Roadrunner to roll down windows would be easy enough using Satellite parts anyway. I was just wondering if any actually escaped the factory as a hardtop.

you could be correct that it switched over to 21 in 73 and 4
I parted a 71 RL23 with fixed windows a93 on the tag
and I own a 71 rm23 runner with power windows
and I also own another 71 rm23 runner with roll up windows
so I have had all 3 versions from the same year.71
my guess is it was the same thru 74 in some variation?
the fendertag codes should tell you how it came.
one thing is you can always change out the windows
to what you prefer,

Crap, the Satellite was RP23. my Roadrunner was RM.....
It's strange, I don't recall having a memory problem.

sorry flypaper, you are confused on your body style VINs for B body cars

21 is fixed rear windows, period (well, except for 73-74 Charger SE which are 29 body and fixed).
23 is roll down rears, period. (note that 72 Charger SE is 29 but roll down)

I do believe "all" 73/74 RR cars were RM21, however I'm pretty sure I've seen more than just a couple that had power windows (including the rear)

anyone actually see a 21 body with power front windows only?

I'm fairly certain I've seen a 74 RR with all four

it could have been an RR/GTX

21 is fixed rear windows, )

Nope
You are the one who is Wrong
21 was not used on 71 plymouths b''s ever
And I would bet anything you want
A93 is the fender tag code.
Look up that code and get back to me
I owned one and I have pics of the tag somewhere.
I wondered why the car had a Vin of 23
And it had fixed windows
Car was a 90k and not molested
And I did research and that is what I learned
That they dropped 21 in 71
From 72 up they must of brought 21 back
And what it means then is up for debate.
As I can say I'm not up on the later cars
As I am on 71's

Here's an example of someone on this site who did the conversion, check post #39 https://www.forbbodiesonly.com/mopa...ner-gtx-and-satellite-pic-thread.44616/page-2

This thread is about 73/74

I have a complete 2 window set up
Was told it was from a 74

Well

Roadrunner got all what coupe got with these diff...

74_Satellite_4.jpg

sebring the same but between diff is the movable quarter windows... soooo

The ilustration shows thought a RR without the quarter glass in place

While the frame legend marks with an X the RR just as coupe

I only recall 73 & 74 road runners RM21 fixed quarter Windows, never saw one different. If there were, don't recall ever seeing one.

The same source I got the info about "all" 73/74 RR being RM21 IIRC also said that "all" 72 were RM23.

This guy is a former Mopar Magazine editor and close friends with a LOT of folks in the concours Mopar resto circles.

Perhaps there WAS a "movable window delete" option in 72

Strangeness in the Mopar world never seems to end.

How much money did they really save by tooling two different sets of glass, two different sets of frames, two different sets of brackets, etc all just to keep the rear windows from rolling down?
