73' Charger will not start

Rereading this thread.... Tell us about the known fuel quality, and are you using the carburetor and fuel pump, or still just pouring gas in?? If the fuel is good supply, and it's fed by the fuel pump from the tank, and you know its good fresh gasoline, then have you tried pedal to the floor and crank for another twenty seconds after you think its flooded? Any different result? If you are pouring gas in, its always going to flood very quickly. It does seem by the descriptions given that you may be jumping time, or just really crappy gas.
Also, if you don't think its been apart in a very long while, I'd just pull the front apart and have a look at that timing chain......wont take long at all.

What the heck was that with the gear? Lift the distributor and turn the rotor 180 and put it back.
Your right mopar 3 B.
It's firing on exhaust stroke, instead of compression. Or, sounds like it.

Sorry, not thinking clear. Deleted my other posts.
A little heart problems, finding out this Weds.

Thanks for your reply @Lefty71. The gas I use is always high octane non-ethanol. Today I plan to replace the new fuel pump I got from year-one with a working one and will fabricate a fuel line to the carb. Your comment about pouring fuel down the carb one is a good one. This will be my last attempt before biting the bullet and doing a front engine teardown. If it has jumped time, I hope the valves are not bent.

You can gravity feed the carb to start it with out a fuel pump. Any gravity feed fuel tank and the proper size fuel line to attach to the carb is all that is needed.

Hello Guys, Again I want to thank you all for your inputs....What is wrong with this picture I have attached? It totally blows me away someone could do this. It looks like @400sforever and @Blackbee603 were on the right track. Yes the cylinders were washed out and the cam timing is 180 out. I am also concerned about the oil pump. Since the car sat for many years, I wonder what damage has been done with oil going to all the parts. I pulled the valve cover and see the lifters are collapsed. Since the oil pump is external, I was thinking about pulling it off and checking its tolerances. Does anyone know if I can blow air into the oil pump ports here to see is the pickup screen is clogged? I am just about at the point of pulling the engine and seeing how much I am going to need to rebuild it. I will be checking the wear for the bearings and looking at how much cylinder ridge I have. That could give me an idea of how much machining I need to get done. At least I will know what I have. Your Thoughts?

Hmm...... it is "off" at least once per rotation. or is it "right" once a day?
Timing!!!

What is wrong in the picture?? The crank comes around twice for every revolution of the cam. The cam timing looks OK to me, and the crappy plastic gears not missing any teeth?? I think you may be right, if the oil pressure wasn't pumping up the lifters are down, but the valves should open some and I still think you should have fed gas through a working carburetor to start it and it would likely have fired up. Just guessing from this viewpoint tho.

It totally blows me away someone could do this.

Do what exactly??

Probably a good thing it did NOT fire off. Would have wound up with a trashed motor, considering all the internal rust.
Timing chain was not off 180 out, basic timing (distributor) was.

Thoughts?? Complete overhaul...anything else a waste of time.
