Met with a fellow member out in Alabama and purchased a 66 that was in way better shape than what I had to start off with. So today as soon as I woke up I started tearing into both cars and swapping over the good parts from my old car to the new 66 with almost perfect floor pans. The car has a few issues but nothing like what the other 66 was. Anyhow here are some progress pictures from today.

The gold fender is a 67 but I think I have to modify it to work with the 66 grill and headlights. However I may just have to cut off the good part of the nose to put on my pretty decent but bent nosed 66 fender.

Oh boy, you really have a project.
I hope you have a lot of time and patience.
Keep us posted.

Man, I always love it when another one begins the journey. Makes me think one more
is going to be saved!
Good luck with it and keep us updated, please!

I have no plans for a show car but right now it’s just to get it together and make a nice driver.

Here is my bent 66 fender just trying to think of a way to make the 67 and 66 work. I noticed the 67 fender has a different tab for the cross bar to mount to. So it may be something to figure out. Just threw some paint on it to keep it from rusting. Found the picture of the nose that’s bent up.

Can you drill out the spot welds and swap just the headlamp bucket area from the 66 into the 67 fender?
Mike

those spot welds are at a really nasty angle to get anything to them, right on the inside edge.

is that 881 blue?

What was the original option list on that car?

it’s light turquoise poly. White top car 383hp 727 standard axle package. No fender tag but does have the certicard with a few codes. Non ac car pretty plain Jane other than the 383hp

Cool.

I love that color.

Does anyone know what the little orange light is for under the dash on the left? Hazard indicator?

Took the headlight bucket out of the 66 fender today. Also started removing the headlight bucket from the 67 fender. Its not as bad as you would think. I drilled out the spot welds on the 67 fender now i just have to remove it. There are some differences that I see but not a problem to correct. I will post pictures of the swap.

Nice, but get rid of that WD40 for some PB Blaster!

Well got something done today. Will finish it up when i get some argon. Right now it just has sheet metal screws holding it in place. But I cut out the headlight bucket from the 66 and cut out the 67 and married the 66 into the 67 fender. I messed up and have to cut out a piece where you see the big hole I need to recover that part from the old fender.

Well tonight I was looking at my seat and seeing what all I have. I had a good seat bottom but was missing both backs. I purchased a seat from the guy I bought the car from. But the tracks were super rusted and not repairable. My seat tracks that were in my old 66 were in decent shape but different than the 67 seat I think I bought. Anyhow I put them together and made a good seat with tracks.

Those 66 only adjustable tracks are nice to have if you're over 6 feet with a long spine, like me.

Im a midget not tall at all. I showed the tracks to my buddy who is a Pontiac guy he was man those tracks make up for Mopar shitty wiring.. Those are cool.

Adjustment works both ways!

Obviously your friend has never owned a classic ford.

...and I must say, classic gm wiring does seem initially a bit better, but finding what fails when something does fail can be a nightmare.

At least it's reasonably logical on Mopars.

Im planning on an engine repaint to a more appropriate turquoise Its not a 66 engine and not a numbers car so as long as it looks like it should be in the 66 ill be happy. I topped off the engine with my 440 Super Commando pie tin. The engine never looked finished. And yes im going to try and use the HP manifolds.. Hope they fit.
