Air valve in wheel?

New ‘69 Roadrunner owner here with a couple of very basic questions.
Pictured is one of my front wheels. What kind of a “valve stem” is that & how would I check air pressure or inflate the tire? It’s almost flush with the rim, and the familiar little “push to inflate” brass peg seems to be hiding inside there. It’s internally threaded, so is there some sort of screw-in adapter that I need?
Both of my front wheels are like this (the rears are the same wheel but they have the black rubber valve stems that I’m used to).
On another note, are these “Magnum 500” wheels? Were they OEM on the ‘69 Roadrunner?

Those are 15" wheels. NO fifteens ever on any mopar. Those are either ford or aftermarket. My bet would be aftermarket. Edit: no 15" magnums, obviously there were other 15s, rallys and steelies.

THats a strange air fitting - I’ve never seen that before. I wonder if a foot pump style screw on adapter would be in order.

What do you guys think of these? I just bought this Roadrunner, & I'll need to put new tires on soon. I'd like to have everything match, so should I add "flush mount valves" to the rear wheels? ...or put rubber stems back on the fronts? It's only a matter of aesthetics?

It is some new fanggled BS valve stem. I’d get rid of that trash pronto. If you need to stop for air, is every place going to have the piece to air that up? Heck. NO they’re not.

Yes those are magnum 500’s. They have the chrome rim with no beauty ring. Then they are. Called road wheels. They never came on 1969 Chrysler products, only 1967 and 1968.

Apparently, one needs to carry the adapter which comes with the installation kits, ...but which didn't come with my car. They're available separately online, I see (thanks, moparnation74). But, I guess there's no real advantage to these? Just "aesthetics". I first noticed these on my car toady, so they didn't make much of a visual impact on me. And, ...I tend to be a pretty basic, "old school" guy, so I think I'll go with all new *rubber valve stems* when I get new tires.

Looks like something the fart can, tuner, crowd would use. I would remove them pronto on a Mopar!

On the other hand, I can see an advantage for off road use. Pretty hard to snag and tear off.

Well, just to finish up this thread & help out anyone who might find these things on a car someday, here's a pic of what's needed to screw into the "flush mount stem". These "flush mount valve stem filler tubes" are available at Jegs, Summit, etc. for $3-$6. But, yes, I'm going with the black rubber stems when I buy new tires here soon. I originally thought maybe this was some kind of a MOPAR thing that I wasn't aware of.

They're interesting but not for me. I 2 of those adapters and isn't a cap on them to keep crap out? Another tool to remove them, even if its a screw driver, no thanks.

If you look at the kits online, there is a cap (like a mini hub cap) for each flush mount valve, that screws in where the adapter goes when servicing the tire. But, yes, overall too "gimmicky" for me & seems a bit out of place on a vintage classic. Maybe the RestoMod crowd?

You might consider chrome stems for some esthetic value.

I would lose the valve stems and just put chrome regular ones on. If you get a little road dirt or whatever into the treaded area or bugger up the threads you will play hell trying to screw the adapter in . Hope your enjoying your new ride. Looks good.

Yup, that's exactly what I've done now. Got rid of the funky flush mount stems, in favor of chrome 'real' stems.
I've posted a pic of my new RWL Cobra's in the thread "Preference on Tires".
