Has anyone successfully replaced the pedal e-brake with a hand brake
located behind the shifter?

I am installing universal ebrake cables anyway so I was hoping someone
has performed this modification already.

I believe Lokar made the unit we installed in a 56 Chevy.Worked well. You may have to make a bracket for the driveshaft tunnel to reinforce the floor. It makes it stronger and the handle won't flex when you pull it up.

Lokar has several types. Just watch out for your cables under the car. They would have to run up the center of the driveshaft tunnel, above the driveshaft. Depending on how much your car is lowered you may have to get creative with mounting them. Might be easier to just use the stock ebrake pedal setup.

Old VW bugs hand brake, adapted it to your car?

Doin a bit of driftin are ya?

Ha...no, not in this car.

I'm just used to a hand brake in my other cars and I'm considering installing speakers in the kick panels and I'm sure the e-brake won't clear

but yes, integrating with a console, driveshaft clearance, etc are all considerations.

That's an interesting idea. Didn't the A-bodies come with hand emergency brakes? I seem to recall having that in a 75 Duster???

rear steering brakes have been around for a long time , and fast n furriest cars run them .

A body cars were mounted under the dash and was pull on and twist push off.

Check out controlcables.com.They have handles, brackets and can custom make cables for you. They also make throttle and shift cables.
