440 Holley Dual inlet fuel line plumbing

DIY not a mechanic looking at all the pitfalls before I begin the next project - switch from Edlebrock performer series to Holley Dual inlet 4160. Need advice on fuel lines (pump to carb) for '67 Coronet with 440, TF, stock intake manifold, aftermarket headers, Lunati cam and I recently updated to electronic ignition. Currently lines plumbed for Edelbrock performer 600 single inlet. Just for the heck of it, if I wanted a Holley 750 cfm 4160 (dual feed inlets), how much plumbing headache will I have? I don't have a Holley, yet. I'm afraid that the usual dual inlet chrome line for $20 will bump into the distributor. or coil. No return lines on this engine. If you've tried / done the conversion, looking for your advice.

You can use that one (they're real common, of course) but I can tell you on a 440 it's gonna require a little "redirecting"
on the inlet end (sits low on a stock intake and aims at the distributor).
 
If you already have an Edelbrock on it you could just get an Edelbrock 750 CFM carburetor that's what I did reducing my ProForm 850 double pumper because I got terrible gas mileage with that thing and I couldn't get a very good idle out of it either just saying

Just like dadsbee did just run the duel fuel line backwards to the rear and run fuel line where you want. This is what I did.
 
You won’t have a problem with u-turn, braided line is for wear and tear and looks only. Ran line along fender to keep fuel as cool as possible as long as possible. If looking for factory stock look, then run it right along the engine and intake as close as possible.
 
Great pics thank you. Looks like a good size carb spacer seems to help the primary side bowl clear the coil. As an easier fit option, Holley is offering a single feed 750 cfm 4160 model - it's a bit smaller overall dimensions with the inlet on the driver's side front.

I took a similar fuel rail off of my 440 as the fuel line will plumb with a rubber hose over the distributor. I replaced it with a Holley fuel rail and a 90 degree turn down that gets the fuel line away from the distributor and gave a port for a fuel pressure gauge. Picked the parts up from Summit and they work great.
 
Update - The dual inlet Holley's front primary side fuel bowl was all over the coil bracket. Rather than fabricate a bracket extension / move it, I ended up choosing a single inlet Holley 4160 which has slightly smaller dimensions front/back, allowing reasonable space for the coil. Maybe the '67 440HP stock intake manifold has a different set up for coil mount than later manifolds?

A 1/4 inch carb spacer was required, with either dual or single inlet Holley 4160, to allow full movement of the throttle mechanism. Classic industries has a $15 pump to carb fuel line designed for OEM single inlet Holley carbureted Mopars.

So it's not exactly stock appearing, but I will say the exhaust smell at idle is a lot more tolerable with the Holley 4160 than the Edelbrock Performer (no matter how I tuned the idle mixture screws, it just skunked - possibly because of the particular Lunati cam I guess). Thank you for all the advice and pics.

Jim, I think the thing you learn most is, adapt and move on. Take notes, invent, live with your choices, and Enjoy your success. If any thing I’ve learned at car shows is what the hell was that guy thinking when he installed that piece on that car. Other then that, we’re all professionals. Enjoy your work, and always take credit for it!!!!!!!!!! This is what it gets you. Your peers will like your work.

dadsbee, I have the same issue with my fuel line also and like what you did. Two questions, first, did you run a hard line or a rubber line from the fuel pump up all the way ? and two, your mount for the fuel filter, that home mage of something you can buy stock? I like the looks of it !
 
Rubber line from pump, as it's an aftermarket with a hose barb.. not a threaded fitting. Filter holder is just a "tube clamp" of the appropriate size, I have 10's of thousands of them on hand so not an issue getting one the correct size. The effort was to hold the filter up in "free" air so it stays cool and not resting on the manifold and percolating.

LOL.. it's a stock 383HP.. we don't all run monster blower engines!..............BUT we should!
